Shims
Good quality and price never had a need for them till now so ordered a few sets just in case
1 Shim and done!
Couldn't get AR15/M16 Retro bbl nut to time properly, added one of the thinnest shims and 30 lbs torque, Gas tube lined up perfectly. Good price shims well marked.

Still Rocking the Top
40 years and still the same great support as always.
Saved my axe!
Worth having around. Aero Precision bbl nut (for AP handguard) only had 4 x gas tube hole openings in the entire nut. With none of the 8 x .001" included shims installed, the closest gas tube opening in the nut had just barely moved past the gas tube opening in the upper receiver when torqued 3 x and set to the min 30 ft lbs on the last turn. Ended up needing .011" total of added shims to get to the next opening in the bbl nut. So, a .007", .003" from this kit, and one of the .001" shims from the 8 that came with the AP handguard kit were needed to get it perfect at 42 ft lbs torque. Well done!
No worries
Worked great. Got my barrel nut dialed in and handguard lined up perfectly.
Good Shim Kit
Shims are well marked and well packaged. Rather than do math, I use the hit-or-miss method to determine which shim(s) I needed to get the barrel nut lined up for the gas tube on two different builds. They work perfectly and without alteration if used before installing the gas block. Bought an extra pack for next time.
An essential part for certain barrel nut
These shims are essential to use on certain handguard barrel nuts that use threaded holes that need to be aligned with the barrel nut. I dont really like these types of handguards as theyre difficult to set up properly but these shims make it much, much easier. Aligning the threaded holes in the barrel nut with the holes in the handguard are simplified using these shims. Theyre well made, come in different thicknesses, and are easy to use.
A must have
For installing free float handguards that have to be exactly mated with the barrel nut and then precisely aligned with the flat top rail you must have these. Trying to repeatedly retorque the nut to get the alignment is tedious at best and maddening/frustrating at worst.
Must-have in your toolkit!
I recently needed some additional shims to finish my build for my Aero Precision rifle. This kit was just what I needed! I'm using a standard AR15 upper receiver mated to an Aero Precision 15" M-Lok Enhanced hand guard, with an 18" barrel. I ended up using the .007" shim, one .003" shim, and two .001" shims that came with my Aero BAR barrel nut. I suggest you snag two of these kits if you don't have any shims at home. At $6 a kit, cheap insurance to have so you can finish your build. The shims got my barrel nut timed correctly at approximately 35 ft/lbs of torque.
