Wheeler Sight Tool
I used this tool today for the first on my Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry. On this gun I had added Sig's Romeo 1 Red Dot so the stock front sight was now too short. I purchased Ameriglo's SG-160-350 Suppressor height front sight so I can be able to Co-Witness if I have a battery failure. Before starting the removal and installation process, I found a couple of YouTube videos on using the Wheeler Sight Tool and I also read the included instructions. I did put a little bit of penetrating oil at the dovetail at the beginning. Being this was the first time ever for me doing a sight removal and install (I consider myself very handy around tools) everything went well! Old sight came off (it was definitely a tight fit) the new one went on a bit easier. No marring to my slide, a good thing! But, I would never attempt this job with a punch and hammer! The only reason I did not give this tool a five star rating was that one of the two large studs (that secure the upper half of the fixture to top of the firearm slide) seemed to have a birr on the threads. I put more oil on the threads than came from the factory and just ran the knob / thumb nut back and forth a few times. Also, the Height Adjustment Stop (the part that contacts the top of the slide) didn't rotate as I thought it should. So, I removed the set screw which has a sharp point on the end opposite of where you would insert an Allen wrench. The point had dug into the unthreaded part of the Height Adjustment Screw. I filed the point so it was more of a flat and didn't tighten the set screw as snugly. Now it rotates more freely. Minor issues!

Good product
Overall I am satisfied with this tool. It's a little complicated compared to make/model specific sight tools but I guess that is the price you pay. I will say you need to take your time and make sure everything is properly aligned. At first I thought the sight pusher seemed flimsy and would break but I just did a super stubborn set of sights on an M&P 2.0 and the tool did not fail and was applying a lot of torque. For the price I would recommend it for the casual user with a lot of different guns.

Decent tool for a good price
I've had the Wheeler Engineering sight tool for just under a year now and wanted to hold off giving it a review until I ran it through several actual uses. Well, I've only replaced the sights on several Glocks, primarily because they are either our EDC or the handgun that accompanies me when I'm hunting or fishing. I first watched a few videos for tips on Youtube (wish I had a better choice than this leftist Google surrogate) then read the instructions. It pushed the factory sights out with little problem but installing the new Truglo Tritium Pro Glow sights took a little more effort. However I was able to install them with no real issues other than having to apply more torque on the hand wheel than I was expecting. Pros: Good quality for the money Does the job pretty well Fairly good construction (see cons for details). Cons: Finish of the aluminum frame block had many superficial dimples all over it so it was exchanged for a new one. The replacement unit one was fine. The threads of the hand wheel screw seem to be a semi-coarse count. Not sure of its actual count per inch or pitch but I think a finer thread count would allow for a more controlled movement with smaller increments with every turn of the hand wheel which in my opinion is ideal. I applied some Lucas gun grease to the threads with a Q-tip and it reduced the friction between the threads which really helped when additional torque is required. Here's a few tips I learned for those who may be interested. 1. Use some duct tape or other thick tape on the sides and top of your slide to protect the finish from the clamps' jaws. While the jaws of the side screws are made of aluminum and the top screw jaw is a hard polymer, they could scratch the finish if you're not careful. 2. Prior to pushing out your old sight, apply a small drop of penetrating oil such as Aero-kroil, WD40, PB Blaster, etc and let it do it's job for about 5 min with the slide turned sideways to allow gravity to pull the oil through the groves. 3. Once your old sights have been removed, clean the dove tails well with brake cleaner or similar solvent and apply a very thin layer of a good quality high pressure grease such as Lucas gun grease, etc to both the female dove tail groove in the slide and the male dove tail on the new sights. 4. If your replacing factory Glock sights with Truglo like I did then you'll have to rotate the pusher block. The factory rear sight uses the angled notch while the Truglo needs the square notch. Overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase and have and will continue to recommend the Wheeler to others. Can't give it 5 stars but a solid 4 stars is a pretty fair assessment.

Not bad!
Great tool for the value! Never experienced the issue some of the complainers had. Simply remove the top of the tool, sit your slide evenly between the white lines, checking front and back alignment. Then equally tighten side bolts up. Again, checking front and back alignment. Instructions say use tape on the slide but I cut an aluminum pop can and put 1 strip down each side of my slide before fully tightening the side bolts. I think where others had issues is by trying to match the tool's inner plastic set screw half moon shaped disc to the top of the slide's curve. The instructions say that is only for some 1911 slides and for all other slides turn the disc's curved side 90 degrees to the slide. This will allow the flat parts of the disc to contact the flat parts of the slide creating a more solid, unrollable set up. Use a good oil to lube sights prior to installing or removing. When the rotating dial gets tight tap the black sight pusher block a few times with a brass hammer(as per the instructions) . This would release some tension on the sight dovetail and reduce the force created. I would repeat this tapping often if the dial got hard to turn and had great success. Others simply didn't read the manual. Good luck!

Worked ok after trial and error.
This tool worked after figuring out what setup would work best with my application. Installing I Dot sights on a Brownells G17 slide. The sights have both a straight up angle and the angle that is like or is close to the Glock sight angle. Tape up the slide, sides and top so as not to damage finish. I also put tape on the pusher contact surface. I figured the straight side of the pusher would work best but with more tension it tended to "lift" as the pusher deflected slightly. I reversed it and used the angled side of the pusher and that counteracted the "lift" I was getting. The sights went in fairly easily after that. Tool is heavy and seems pretty strongly built. Got it on sale and compared to other pushers, price vs quality I'd say this was the best deal at the time by far. I'm satisfied with it.
