Aero M5 BCG
Product as advertised
Head space works great with criterion ba
Not the rolls Royce of BCGs but it works and with all the issues people clame to have with AR 308 and AR 10 style builds in relation to headspace it seems reliability is a premium. I can personally attest to the fit and function of this bolt in an Aero M5 enhanced upper with a criterion barrel. I hope that helps someone looking to build.
reliable BCG
I've used other BCG's and this one has worked flawlessly on 4 builds I've done, tried using some other BCG's w/o the ridges for the forward assit. and they didn't do so well, only firing about 3 rounds only in a build for a friend so I traded out an extra Aero BCG I had on hand, no more trouble. For the usual price at Brownells and Aero Precision, I usual wait for a sale price of these at either site; best bang for the buck, these are it. No cons. Yes I do run-on sentences. These are just good basic BCG's, not expensive but well build and preform very well and worth the $, a lot of times I use Aero uppers
Nothing but trouble
This BCG has been the cause of more than one headache. I bought it on 6/22/2020 along with a complete M5E1 enhanced 22" upper in 6.5 Creed. No matter how much cleaning/oiling I do, the bolt gets stuck in the carrier. It is excessively tight when it should move smoothly and without much effort. Additionally, I've been having consistant light strikes/FTF. After examining today, I found the firing pin to be more than 1/32" too short. I borrowed a buddys pin from his .308 BCG and it fired perfectly round after round. I'm going to have to return this and hope for a more functional replacement.
