BMC Upper
Great product and great service. Works as advertised.
Excellent upper from BCM
Fit and finish is perfect, T-Marks are clear, inside coated with dry lube. As far as markings go, my upper is marked "BCM4" above the gas tube hole, the side is marked with a 5-point star where the forge mark would usually be. I ended up installing a Brownells M4 SOCOM profile barrel- must use a heat gun to install the barrel, as it should be. High quality upper all around.
Solid upper, high quality
What makes this upper so good:
1) Thermal fit - use a heat gun (not a torch), takes about 2 minutes to warm it up enough to slip the barrel in. Super easy, rock solid
2) Dry film lubricated inside as milspec uppers should be
3) T marks on the reciever
4) Forward assist is pinned as milspec uppers should be. Pressed on forward assists are unfortunately too common.
5) Machine work and finish is excellent
Overall a high quality upper for a reasonable price. Highly recommend.
Good stuff!
This is my first time using a bravo company upper and I'm really impressed with the quality of workmanship and fit and finish of the upper. Yeah you've got to heat up the front of the receiver to install the barrel, not a big deal to do with a good heat gun and the results are great! I do believe that this will be my go to upper from now on. I will certainly use it again!
Guality
This is the second BCM upper I have used. The fit and finish are top shelf quality. I really like the interference fit of the barrel and yes its designed that way and for a good reason. I have put together many AR style weapons over the years and have found that when a high quality upper is used the barrell sits centerline of the receiver and allows the sights or optic to be set up in a more centered manner. It has been my observation that when you move an optic from one rifle to another and it stay within a few MOAs of each other the job was done correctly. Buy high quality parts, take your time, and always read the manufacturer's paperwork (multiple times) . Assemble using good tools and your labor and money spent will be well worth it.
Great product
Bought this for my daughter's rifle build. Took ten minutes with a heat gun and I had the barrel installed. Let it cool and it has no wobble. I'm buying another for my next build
Best forged upper available
Barrel fits tight like it's supposed too, finish is perfect, dry lube coated on the inside (most aren't). They don't get any better than this, only cheaper, or more expensive. I've stopped buying anything else but BCM uppers and factory build lowers.
Solid Reciever
After reading other reviews/complaints its plain to see who has/hasnt build an ar before or is clueless, which is ok but its not the products fault. If you cant get your barrel into the receiver use a torch and heat the receiver throat this will expand the aluminum. Freezing the barrel will not do much, if you don't believe measure it before and after steel is less susceptible to thermal expansion and contraction then aluminum.
Works as advertised
A few complaints about barrel not fitting into receiver. False. Most higher quality uppers fit tightly. So, without sounding too negative, if the barrel doesn't fit, learn to read BCM's site which tells builders it's a tight fit, and learn to build an AR. DO NOT HONE OR SAND with this receiver; no need. Anyway, the not-so-secret trick: (Optional: Put barrel in freezer for no less than an hour...results vary.) Warm the upper receiver barrel channel with a good hair dryer (get permission from owner first...lol) or heat gun. Apply lite coating of grease on barrel extension and inside barrel channel in receiver. Insert barrel into receiver. *Do the heating part, lube, and insert (yes, we're still talking about assembling an AR) barrel quickly, as the upper will lose heat quick. Ta-Da! It fits! Now, ensure to let the receiver/barrel combo come to room temperature before putting on barrel nut. ---This process is not new and just because other barrels have went right in other receivers just fine, doesn't mean the initial tight fit is not correct; the tight fit helps improve durability and accuracy. Lapping the receiver prior to doing the above can also remove unknowns in regards to possible inaccuracy. Ironically Brownells has a tool for that too.
Good fit
Fit and function was good, Great value for budget minded build.
