EXTENDED RUBBER RECOIL PAD FOR COMMERICAL-SPEC CTR®/MOE® STOCK Reviews & Ratings
Reviews Summary
The Extended Rubber Recoil Pad offers a slight comfort increase for long shooting sessions, mainly enhancing the length of pull. Magpul STR
I was looking for a larger cheek weld and the STR fit the bill. Storage is a plus and I got it on sale!
Increase the Length of Pull of your CTR
I love the CTR stock, it's light and compact but even on the last notch of the stock tube I found the length of pull to be a bit too short. This buttpad fixed it and is a great solution!
Great for comfort.
As other users have posted, this item is not going to provide any significant difference in the recoil feel, as it purely aesthetic on a 5.56 It does provide comfort when compared to other butt-pads.
Enhanced is right.
Recoil on an AR15 in 5.56x45mm is negligible. So calling this a recoil pad, as some do, is not really accurate. However, what this pad offers is a LOT of additional shooter comfort. The angle on the back of the pad is different from the std pad. It allows you to place the pad higher-up on your shoulder without hurting your collar bone or deltoid muscle. Its texture is also grippier than the std pad and it is a little thicker. Lastly, the "vents" in the back of the pad don't really help reduce any recoil. They do make the recoil stroke feel a little softer in your shoulder, but it's NOT a night and day difference with 5.56. Now, on a 6.8/6.5/7.62x39mm AR15, the difference would be worth the cost of the pad alone. A buddy uses this one on his AK with an AR stock adapter and he really noticed a difference in the character of the recoil stroke due to the bigger cartridge and the AK's sharper recoil impulse. It's not mandatory, but it's also equally NOT a wasted investment, either.
Pretty and does the job its designed for
Magpul products are setting very high standard in the tactical gun market. The MAG317 but pad is no exception. Not only this optional accessory looks good in the gun but it is also user friendly. Once you shoulder the gun, the buttpad's ergonomic contour automatically locks where it should be - allowing the operator faster and more precise aim. The intricate exterior pattern of the pad is superb assuring non slip hold. The unique internal shock absorber vents really works. With a neat price tag to go along, its 5 star all the way.
Great Product
With a 5.56mm its really not needed but it does cut down felt recoil a decent bit, great for long shooting periods or if you want to extend the length of pull of your stock just a little without having to move to that next notch on the buffer tube.
Hard as a rock
Hard plastic. No reduction in felt recoil. Only good for extending length of pull no padding although they molded it to look like padding.
