Works like a charm!
Does exactly what it's designed to do. I wish I had purchased it years ago.
Quality Tool
Once you understand how a reaction rod works, you'll want them for any AR muzzle work. Watch the YouTube "School of the American Rifle" channel, they have a great video on why you want to use a Reaction Rod for muzzle work. This is a solid, beefy tool, made of heavy steal. You can feel the quality and it locks up nicely when mounted in a vise. This tool doesn't bend, or crack unlike some cheaper polymer AR blocks and you can really wrench down on your rifle if need be.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Geisselle Perfection
If I were to come up with a complaint I'd say it's heavy, but the subject says it all, I can't think of a way to improve this. If you can afford this get this over the other stuff. For me rotating the barrel as I work is a really nice feature.
Geissele Reaction Rod Scores!
I had to wade through several less useful upper receiver mounting blocks before I finally opted for this Geissele reaction rod. Don't let cost deter you. The reduced stresses on your upper receiver and your mind is well worth it! All the torque stays in the barrel, not the receiver. Easy to use, no fumbling with clam-shell halves. Nicely finished and stout!
Great tool
I really wish I had known about this tool with my earlier builds. I mainly use it for dimpling barrels and muzzle devices so nothing major. It's great because I can just rotate the whole upper receiver as I need to change angles/lighting/etc and it makes jobs a snap. Overall this is a great investment.
Must Have
If you do work on Black Rifles, this is a must have. Solid heavy construction and makes working on uppers slick and easy. Only down side is the price
Great Tool
Purchased this tool for an AR build. I was surprised when I put the barrel and upper on this to tighten the barrel nut. There was NO flex or movement. This thing is harder than woodpecker lips. Torquing the barrel on my gun was no issue at all. I like it a lot better than stressing the upper receiver by using an upper block in a vice. Id recommend this for anyone purchasing good tools to build an AR with.
Indispensable
This tool is a must have for any AR-15 upper work. I mostly use it to install muzzle breaks and handguards. Its a fast, safe and secure way to hold the upper. I had a difficult time choosing between this one and the Brownells tool. I choose this one because of the flats machined into the sides and Brownells had it on sale. I couldnt be more pleased, in the short time Ive owned it, it has made it into the go to drawer of my bench top tool box. Its handy for just about any task that puts torque on an upper. A great way to securely hold a complete upper without worry or having to disassemble anything. The only con is that it is priced a bit steeply for what it is. However, its a well made, durable, all steel and very useful fixture, and its useful enough that having two probably isnt out of question. Having used it, Id definitely buy it again.
Don't wait, get it now
I've been looking at this for a while now and when it went on sale I finally decided to get one. All I can say is don't wait even if you only have one build it's worth every penny, even at MSRP. It was a pleasure to work on the upper. Definitely the right tool for barrel install and muzzle break but also great for hand guard install as well as attaching mounting points like QD, rail, vert grip, etc. I have several Geissele triggers and appreciate their quality, I see the same thing in the reaction rod. So if you're thinking about getting one don't wait, you won't be sorry. Time to get one for my .308
Perfect necessity for any AR build.
Bought this after watching various videos on the net. Made sense, so I bought it. I could not be happier. Rod clamps perfectly in vice and allows barrels to be installed into upper receivers with ease. I have not been a fan of receiver clamp tools after a nice finish on a build. With this tool, you can slip it off and rotate a receiver and barrel to install gas blocks and hand guards, and attach accessories to any side of hand guards with ease. I like that when you torque barrel nuts down ALL the torque applied transfers through the rod and not to one small point or peg like other blocks, and could slip or fail. Best tool you could ever have in your assembly trick bag. It is very stout and will last forever.
