AR-15/M16 NiB-X® COATED UPPER RECEIVER Reviews & Ratings

Stripped receiver has WMD’s NiB-X® nickel boron coating inside and out to provide an exceptionally tough, ultra-smooth surface finish for outstanding wear resistance and lubricity. A ceramic topcoat is applied for color on the exterior only, leaving the nickel boron exposed inside to keep friction with the bolt carrier to the absolute minimum. Works great with standard carriers, too, but even smoother with nickel boron coated bolt carriers, including WMD’s NiB-X® coated carrier, available separately. M4 feed ramps ensure reliable feeding.

SPECS: 7075 T6 aluminum, NiB-X® coating with matte ceramic finish, Black or Flat Dark Earth. Stripped receiver only. Fits standard AR-15/M16 lowers, and accepts standard barrels and upper receiver parts. .250" dia. pivot/takedown pin holes. M4 feed ramps.

Awesome upper for the money

This is a great upper receiver for the price. With NiB BCG it slides easily without any lube. After lubing its slides even better. I dont know why someone would complain about a tight fit when thats pretty much what you want! You dont want slop or play between receivers, so dont listen to the amateurs. I installed on a PSA lower and I can put the upper and lower together and the stay without the pins. I have bought matching sets of other brands and they wouldnt do that well. Buy from Brownells they are the leaders in this industry

WMD FDE Stripped upper receiver

I just received the stripped upper receiver by manufacturer WMD. I'm very pleased with the finish, it perfectly matched the FDE finish on the Troy Industries PDW Stock that I planned to mate it with. I will update other Brownell's Customers on the assembly and fit, once I select a lower receiver that matches the finish, something I will do with a local gun store that handles FFL transfer's. I also ordered the Roto-Clip ejection port cover hinge clip tool. For the often frustrating job of installing the tiny hinge clip, that I previously tried to do with a sewing machine screwdriver and a blunted and notched wooden skewer. I'm looking forward to this assembly project. A big sincere thank you to Brownells, all of the products that I have previously ordered are top quality, and matched the descriptions in either the Catalog or the website.

Great upper!

I bought this and paired it with a rainier arms lower and the fit was great. The fde finish is nice but around the takedown holes the paint needed to be thinned up to get a standard pin though without a hammer. After a few takedowns its a perfect tight fit.

Easy to clean seems to do the job!

I Love this upper! The price is right, and the 5.56 that I have is a tack driver. I'm one for good, and competitively priced products. I can believe that there will be some that are produced that are not up to par, but I implore you to exchange and give this product a chance.

NIBX-UPPER FDE BY WMD GUNS

I replaced my 6.8 spc upper with this NIBX upper by WMD. The fit & finish was great, it went on my Stag Arm lower with no problems and FDE color matched my Magpul furniture. I also have a Rifle Gear lower with a NIBX WMD upper on my 300 black out with no problems. I use NIBX coated charging handles with WMD BCG in these uppers, the actions are super smooth. Both builds have the ACT trigger group w/JP enhanced springs w/Grip screw trigger adjuster which makes the action/trigger smooth. Yes I would recommend & buy this upper again.

Looks great and great finnish.

Just got this for a AR-15 build suited for long range target shooting. Fits great on my DPMS lower and color match is good, but definitly shinier and slicker than reular mil spec annodizing. I am going to buy the charging handle and auto BCG from WMD as well.

Excellently made

Purchased this receiver for an AR pistol/NFA (future) build. Wasn't sure if it had M4 feed ramps, as that was a requirement. For those of you wondering the same thing, it does. Finish looks good. As I don't have the lower receiver in hand, I can't test how the fit is, though. Only thing I can think of to make it better would be to offer one that isn't stripped.

Fine uppers abound

Fit and finish are great, I put this upper on three different lowers all of them different makes and it fit each of one perfectly with no play. I've used about every upper that brownells has carried and this may be my favorite so far.

I ordered this from a shop through Brownells also. The upper I received was in perfect condition. love the feel of the ultra smooth interor walls.i also have the nib-x coated BCG. perfect combo. couldnt be happier with it.

Needs Tweaking and QC

Bought this awhile back. Came in wonderful condition but one: Pivot pin paint to thick, esp on front. After using a mallet several times thinking it would wear in with shooting, I gave up and used a drill bit on very, very low setting and speed and cleaned up pivot holes. Front was worst. After that, no problems. Am using a PSA NiB BCG and POF Roller Cam pin also. All together its incredibly smooth! Paint showed no signs of chipping or flaking, assembled nicely. Would love to get a few more in time. If WMD can work out the QC with the pivot pin I'd give it 5 stars easy!
