The MUR is a flattop upper receiver with thicker walls than a standard upper to provide a more rigid platform for greater stability, better accuracy, longer service life, and improved reliability. Precision machined from a fully heat-treated and cryogenically stress-relieved aluminum forging, before hand finishing to final dimensions. All critical interface points are 100% compatible with mil-spec select-fire AR-15/M16/M4 components and lower receivers, and will fit most commercial semi-auto lowers. A slick, dry-lube coating over the hard-anodized finish further guards against surface wear and helps ensure smooth operation of bolt/carrier and other internal components. Comes with true MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail with 13 cross-slots, plus forward assist and ejection port door pre-installed. Gunsmith installation recommended. Includes M4-type feed cuts. Available with or without forward assist.

SPECS: 7075 T6 aluminum, Type III, Class 2 hardcoat anodized, dry lube coating, matte black. .250" dia. pivot/takedown pin holes.

Robust AR Upper

I have many VLTOR products, however I like their upper the most. The MUR is one of the best and robust uppers for all your AR-15 needs; the MUR-1s is perfect for pistol caliber builds, as the forward assist is not necessary. I would recommend either upper.

Solid, high quality receiver

Very solid upper receiver. Exactly what I'd expect from VLTOR. Other high end or billet uppers sometimes have a difficult fit with proprietary barrel nuts and rail systems (I.e., YHM, Daniel Defense). This one fit the Midwest Industries Gen3 MLOK perfectly. Also, better cost than Noveske (which VLTOR makes for them).

Worth the cost

This is a great upper for building a custom rifle. It's super lightweight, great machining, and has a great coating. I haven't assembled the rifle yet so my opinion may change but it looks and feels great. I'll still give it 5 stars but the dust cover did look like is was taken off a worn ar15. the dust cover has scratches and is not coated the same as the receiver. I can live with it but other people may not overlook that parts quality.

First Rate

I built an AR from the bottom up and used this upper based on the description of materials and processes used and I am very pleased with the final result. I own an Armalite and this went together like it all came from same mfg. I can see and feel the quality throughout

EXCELLENT upper reciever!!!

I am using this on an ar build that will be used for recreational and hunting and I am very impressed by the quality of it. Has a nice finish against a spikes tactical lower. Also has the best fit to a lower that I have ever seen.

You get what you pay for!

I have tried uppers from several manufacturers and this one is by far my favorite. It is more expensive than other products but the quality is definitely worth the cost. I used this to complete a 6.5 Grendel piston driven rig on a YHM lower and had absolutely no fitting issues at all. Well built, attractive, and perfect compatibility with the other parts that I chose. I will use more of these for future projects and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

Great Upper

Really nice upper, well worth the extra cost. Fits perfect on just about any lower and cosmetically, it is very sharp looking. Out of all the uppers that I have used, this is by far my favorite.

Very Nice

The finish matched perfect to my Panther Arms Lower. The fit is perfect, tight but not to tight to push the take down pin out with my finger. A little pricy but this paticular gun will be worth it.

Sweet Upper!

This thing looks awesome and it built like a tank. Fits my Rock River lower like a glove and the finish matches beautifully. If you want an upper that makes your rifle stand out from the crowd, this is it. Highly recommended.

Great Upper

Fits just like a mil-spec upper and is a great match for any milled lower. Also a perfect match with the milled charging handles that were a partnership with Vltor.
