works great
I've had the GEN 1 since it came out (at least 18 years ago)and installed it on my Colt HBAR. positive feel and handy as heck.
Force Multiplier
This lightweight mag retainer is in my book a force multiplier. It maitains positive control of a speed reload mag and effortlessly releases it when needed, increasing your reload spead so that you can get back into the fight. instead of trying to pull mags out of cumbersome pouches for speed reloads just reload from the redi-mag then index a new mag into the redi-mag when you are behind cover. beware though that your rifle is about 2 lbs heavier with a full 30rd mag.
fast and easy install
It took me less then 10 minutes to install. Put the rubber gasket on, wrap the redi-mag around the magazine well, install the two screws and you're done. No spacers or locknuts. Want to clean your receiver? Remove the two screws and it's off. Lightweight and clean design.
Solid item but not needed
This item is great! It is strong, lightweight and the idea behind it is noble BUT this item is not needed. When a magazine is placed in the Redi-Mag it makes for quick access to a second mag but if you experience a type 2 or type 3 malfunction and you need to strip your mag that is in the gun the Redi-Mag magazine hinders you from doing so. Also Tactical Reloads get derped. Even though I trained with this item and can use efficiently, I feel I am more efficient with out it.
Glad I got it
This is a great way to have a spare mag ready to go on the fly. This version is great, very light weight, easy to install and come with all the tools. The down side is that it rubs my Magpul B.A.D. Lever. I worry if it will cause a issue while under stress. I think I will keep it and think about adjusting my Lever or getting a Troy Lever...idk. I cannot give it a full 5 stars but it's still worth it.
