This plug replaces the forward assist in your AR-15. In some cases the forward assist has been known to break causing the weapon to "jam" and not allowing the bolt to cycle, this plug will alleviate that. It also works extremely well in 9mm and .22 caliber conversions whose bolts do not accommodate a forward assist.

- 0.6 oz vs milspec

My scale says the plug is .6oz less than a milspec forward assist assembly. It fits flush with the assist receiver profile. Found it useful for dedicated .22 and 9mm builds which might not have compatible bolt notches anyway. May as well get a non-assist upper for a 9mm build and a poly upper for a .22 build though and skip the plug.

It's a plug...

It is well made, easy to install and fills the forward assist hole cleanly. Great for .22LR dedicated uppers.

I assumed it was metal (my bad). $10 is a lot considering it probably cost $0.03 to make. I won't order another. It works. Fits flush. Comes with roll pin.
