Works with Aero BAR nut after modification
It's a solid piece of metal, the pins are secure and the slots are nice and tight. To use this on the Aero BAR nut, like the other reviews and answers, you'll need to grind one side of one pin to reduce the outer radius, then it fits nice and tight on the BAR nut.
Perfect fit for Surefire
Got this specifically to torque a Surefire muzzle device. It fits perfectly.
The Correct tool, compared to all else
This is how a barrel nut is supposed to be made. The description is clear, as stated this is a copy of milspec wrench. i am a US Navy Armorer, and it looks identical to my tools. i doing any standard profile barrels, 20" 16" 14.5" 10.5" quality barrels with a standard designed barrel nut. buy it. dont wast money on the huge long does everything wrench's, i have seen truly dozens break.
A good tool to have
I bought the combination wrench to change out a muzzle device, and it worked great. I did not even need to torque the wrench that hard to loosen and tighten muzzle devices. This tool also has a great combination of other uses and is made of thick steel.
Great wrench...solid tool!
Just installed a free float handguard on my BCM. Used this tool to break the old barrel nut free and torque the new one. It worked great! I had to use a mini sledge and three hits to bust the old nut free...no problem. Torqued the new one to approx 50 foot pounds (to line up gas tube hole). Performed flawlessly. Worked well on the flash hider as well.
Works Great
I put 70 foot pounds of torque on this when tightening a barrel nut and it performed great. Heavy tool that works exactly how it is supposed to.
I liked it.
I bought one of these a few years ago, and in the meantime, I've used it to put together and take off barrel nuts about a dozen times. Only time it failed to do what it was supposed to do is when I tried to remove a barrel nut that another wrench had stripped out when it broke. It couldn't get enough purchase on what was left of the teeth to turn it, but that's not this wrenches fault, though the PRI wrench might've. But I've used this with a torque wrench to tighten, a breaker bar to loosen, and once even a hammer. It certainly didn't seem fragile at any point while I was using it. The only issue I've ever had with it is once, using it to check a muzzle brake for permanance, I did manage to slightly round the edges of the flats on the brake, but I don't believe that there's any spanner wrench that wouldn't have at that point.
Just what is needed at the right price
Nothing fancy, it gets the job done.
Worked fine - once fitted
Used this on an Aero Precision M-Lock handguard barrel nut, the pins were slightly off. I had to file them to get them to line up with the holes, then it worked perfectly.
May require modification
Just like two other reviewers, I purchased this tool to install an Aero Precision BAR barrel nut. The pin pattern diameter of the tool was too large for this application, and I had to do a good bit of filing on all three pins to remove enough material for it to match the hole pattern in the nut. With modification, it fit perfectly and remained sufficiently robust to apply 60 ft-lbs of torque to the barrel nut. There aren't many choices out there for installing a BAR nut, but this tool works fine if you have the patience to make it fit.
