Take it easy, follow the instructions and this gas key staking tool will do a nice job. File the staking scew very sharp point a little bit before use and that will improve the staking result.

Quality Home Gunsmith Tool
Very easy to use. Lock the carrier down, contact each needle, and then star pattern. I started with 180deg turns, finished with 90deg. Staking came out better than most of my factory assembled BCGs. I would recommend to anybody doing their own smithing.
Did exactly what was required.
A bit expensive for what it is, however it did do what it was supposed to do. I probably could have made one for a tenth of the cost. Not much force, If any, required to stake the screws. Keeps the stakes in a nice neat professional look, as opposed to off centered punch marks, which would have worked just as well. It's a take it or leave it tool. Can't say I would recommend it, or not recommend it. If your happy with a punch, then no. If you must have straight lines then it fits the bill.
It works with a little modification
Overall it works as designed BUT, the screws are a little too pointed (sharp) to displace the metal on the key properly. There is a simple solution which will make you fall in love with this tool.... file the point off a little at a time until you have the proper "blunt" surface for displacement. Once this is done, you will be staking carrier keys better than most factories.BTW, if you somehow file off too much, replacement screws are available so you can try again! Good Smithing!
Excellent tool
Puchased this to re-stake all of my departments long gun bolts as they had not been staked properly from the factory and the gas key had come loose on several rifles. This is a very heavy duty staking tool and I was able to stake 15 + keys with no problem. I have also used the staking points to stake other parts on the rifle such as the castle nut. Simply unscrew them and use a hammer to stake them. I highly recommend this product.
Staking tool
So easy my 2 year old helped. Achieving high qaulity proffessional results have never been this easy. It took mabey five minutes to stake the key. My key was constantly coming loose resulting in a "short stroke". I just got back from a little "stress test" and couldn't induce a FTL or FTF. Well worth the money. I have atached some pictures of the finished product.
