nice to be able to clean with one swipe, instead of using a cotton q-tip to clean individual lugs . Will try the wool chamber mop in the future for comparison.

Just what the doctor ordered

Yep these wool chamber mops are just what the doctor ordered for my Faxon "Wylde" chamber, perfect fit for getting the crud out of the way after brushing. Finish with a clean one for that light coat of oil. I have only used them in this one barrel so far but I am sure they will be fine in my other AR,s as well

These are great

This is a great tool for absorbing all of the gunk that builds up after you clean the chamber out. Then you can get to cleaning without pushing all the gunk through your barrel.

This works well using any type of bore cleaner. Well made doesnt fall apart easily. This is a quality product.

.308 Cotton Mop

Diameter too large

The diameter of this thing was way too large to fit into my .223 wylde chamber ( .223 & 5.56). Even if they mislabeled a .308, it would probably be too large even for a .308 chamber. There's too much cotton in the winding. I could have returned it for free, but instead I got out my pliers, unwound the windings slightly, removed some of the cotton, tightened the windings, then it fit perfectly while still a little snug to do the job. The cotton that's wider to reach behind the lugs of the barrel extension was just right, that required no adjustment. The portion that was too large was a little over a half inch in diameter dry, and even soaked would not reduce in size anywhere close to fit inside the chamber. If I need more in the future, I'll try something else for sure. On one of them I cut the long portion off and only kept the wider part to clean the barrel extension.

WILL NOT FIT INTO 5.56/.223 CHAMBER

I should have trusted the other comments on this item. The 5.56/.223 mops, while a great idea, WILL NOT go into the chamber. I am very glad that I only bought the three pack. Decent construction and design. I had high hopes. Made a little smaller they would be GREAT! STILL LOVE BROWNELLS!

Product does NOT do what it says it can

For the longest time I really needed a cotton chamber mop, and never seemed impressed with what was out there until I saw this one. It really seemed to fit the bill. The previous reviews made this item look horrible. But I thought to myself that the reviewers were mistaken somehow because Brownells (which I still think is a great company) wouldn't advertise an item that said it could do something, and then not be able to do it. Unfortunately, to my surprise, that is precisely what happened! Many of the reviews indicated that the mop would not fit into the chamber, and I have found this to be true. I would challenge anyone to film this cotton mop going all the way into a .233 chamber, BECAUSE IT CANNOT! I have already ruined a couple rods attempting fit the mop into 4 different chambers from 4 different ARs (whose barrels all come from different high-end companies); and not one will fit this mop. Fortunately, these were inexpensive, so I cannot complain too much. I am only annoyed because the idea of this product is so good, while the actual effectiveness of the product is so, so poor.
