AR-15/M16 300 BLK BARRELS

AR-15/M16 300 BLK BARRELS Reviews & Ratings

Direct replacement for the standard .223/5.56mm barrel converts your AR-15 to the high-performance 300 AAC Blackout (300BLK) cartridge. The 300 AAC lets you upgrade your rifle to 7.62 x 39 ballistics, while retaining the standard AR-15/M16 bolt, carrier, and magazine at its full capacity, with no additional modifications. 1-7" rifling accepts bullet weights from 110 gr to 220 gr, and 5/8"-24 muzzle threads accept popular AR-.308 flash suppressors and muzzle brakes. Three models available, 16", 12.5" and 8.2" long and treated inside and out with CMMG’s "Wasp" nitriding process for outstanding resistance to wear and corrosion. 16" barrel has the gas port in the standard position for use with all M4-length gas systems and supersonic ammunition. 12.5" & 8.2" barrels have the gas port positioned for use with pistol-length gas systems.

SPECS: Hardened 4140 chrome-moly steel, Wasp nitride finish, matte black .750" O.D. at gas port.5/8-24 muzzle threads.

Perfect barrel for my pistol build.
This barrel fit perfect for my pistol build. Performs awesome and was an easy install. The low profile gas block lined up perfectly. 300 blk out runs perfect.

Solid barrel at a reasonable price.
I used this barrel for my first .300 AAC build, which was featured in a Brownells Sunday Gunday piece. This rifle has been more accurate than I expected, which is a great surprise. I didnt have the headspace, feeding, or function issues that people seem to. With a BCM BCG and a standard carbine buffer I was able to run 5 different supersonic and 3 different subsonic factory loads (all unsuppressed) and everything functioned perfectly, not one short stroke, no weak ejection, bolt does lock back. I dont have a .30 cal can yet, but I dont anticipate issues running suppressed subs. Im perfectly happy with this barrel.

Top Quality, great fit
This is my second CMMG .300AAC barrel. So great I bought the same one again!

Finish was flawless. I liked the dimple for the gas block. Install was a breeze. Suppressor threaded on nicely.

Nice Barrel
Nice barrel. I like the nitride finish, bore is concentric to the muzzle threading, and the dimple for gas block is a nice touch. Barrel to suppressor alignment was perfect when checked with an aliment rod and headspacing checked good with go and field gauges.Gas port measured with a gage pin at .096(+/- .002). Took it to the range and test fired with sub 220gr and super 124 gr, running the gun suppressed with an H2 buffer. No problems with feeding or ejecting. Accuracy exceeded my expectations as I was able to produce sub 1 inch groups from the bench at 50 yards with an Aimpoint micro. Overall, a good buy.

A nice option for .30 cal
This was on sale; so I figured why not. Cheap factory rounds @ 75yds were 5 moa. However, the home loads of 165gr Spitzer & 125gr Spitzer were all 1 moa @ 75yds without trying. I read where some CMMG chambers were off. I did NOT experience any issues loading my rounds to specks.

Awesome Barrel
For the price , I was shock how this barrel performed . I shot over 300 rounds . Most of it was 147 gr. PWN Ammo . Performance was flawless . No miss feed , No failure to eject . 100% reliable . I was getting less then 2" grouping with my EOtech scope at 100 Yards using 110 gr. Hornady Vmax . 220 gr cycle perfectly fine too. I shot all of this with out a suppressor . The barrel was really easy to clean and still shined . :)

Updated Review
The problem I previously spoke of was related to a magazine issue. I've used a Mag Pul 20 round and not had any issues, since. It is very accurate and reliable. I've since shot a deer with the 125 grain Nosler hand loaded Ballistic tips and it dropped in its tracks. I'm very pleased with the barrel and caliber choice.

CMMG makes a quality product
I just ordered this 12.5" 300 Blackout barrel however I have one other 300 16" build and a 5.56 pistol with a 12.5" CMMG barrel. My 16" Blackout is a heck of an accurate shooter hampered only by me and my hand loads using pulled 147 gr .308 bullets as plinkers. The barrels are well finished in matt Nitride that cleans quickly and rifled 1/7 which many say is the optimum for the 300. I have shot approximately 400 rounds through the Blackout and easily a thousand in the 5.56 without incident . I will build an upper with the 12.5" 300 Blackout barrel and case with both caliber uppers, the pistol lower and extra magazines.

Awesome barrel
I was looking for a lighter weight barrel for a carbine project, CMMG makes this one at a weight of only 1.8# and coupled with a Midwest Industries 10" lightweight kemod rail the rifle turned out to be all I expected. Sight in with iron sights took five shots and from that point my old eyes could easily keep it in the black. This rifle will be tested on Texas hogs soon.
