AR-15/M16 223 WYLDE CHROME LINED BARRELS Reviews & Ratings

Chrome-lined, button rifled barrels feature 223 Wylde chambers and 1-8" twist for enhanced accuracy potential with both .223 and 5.56 NATO ammunition. Unique chrome-lining process maintains uniformity throughout the bore and hand-lapping helps ensure smooth, consistent lands and grooves. Gas ports are optimized for barrel length and chambering to help ensure reliable cycling, and are available for carbine, mid-length, and rifle gas systems. Also features 1/2"-28 tpi muzzle threads for standard comps and flash hiders, plus M4 feed ramps on barrel extension to aid in smooth, reliable feeding. Barrels now feature a dimple opposite the gas port, so screw-on gas blocks do not shift during firing. Hybrid contour barrels have a reduced and tapered contour under the handguard to save weight. HBAR contour barrels feature .870" diameter under the handguard for rigidity and extra heat absorption.

Quality and accurate

This barrel is shipped inside a heavy plastic bag drenched in oil. This was well packed in a cardboard box. The install into the receiver was a very tight fit. The finish is quality. I installed a clamp on adjustable gas block even though it came with a dimple. I have only shot this once so far and my best group is attached. This was at 100 yards with a LPVO scope. The results were good enough for me. Hard to believe this is from a chrome lined barrel. Brownell's shipped to my door very quickly!

Best bang for buck 10.5

Built a MK18-ish clone upper. Barrel is the heart of the upper and is a tack driver. Nice light profile but still chrome lined for longevity.

Accurate, durable, state of the art, innovative ! We will use no other brand barrels in our AR builds as long as Criterion are available.!

Best barrel I've ever built with.

After a dozen or so builds using good to excellent quality barrels, I tried a Criterion and it is great. It helps it's an HBAR and I did take some extra time doing things like lapping the upper where it meets the barrel, but it has no problem consistently shooting 3/8" groups (scoped and using a bipod). A couple groups at the closer range (100 yards) were 1/4". I have nothing but good to report about this barrel after using it for several months and a few hundred rounds.

Excellent!

Absolutely love this barrel! Built this for varmint hunting and this barrel does not disappoint! Excellent accuracy! Im using a VG6 gamma. Loading 55 grain Hornady spsx using 26.1 gr. cfe223 power. Not one miss! So far I have only shot out to 200 yards. Ground hogs, raccoons, opossums have zero chance within that range. The barrel is a bit heavy but it does not bother me at all.

Bolt gun accurate

I was having accuracy issues the factory barrel on my Savage MSR15. Swapped the factory barrel for a Criterion HBAR and upgraded the bolt with a JP Enterprise. The gun now shoots consistently sub MOA to HALF MOA with everything load I feed it.

Excellent accuracy

I use this barrel for competition and deer hunting. With 77gr FGMM Im getting a three shot group under a dime at 100yds. Couldnt be happier with this barrel. With Winchester XP its the same point of aim at 100yds and a slightly larger group, 1/2 MOA.
