Tube flat spring
Haven’t installed yet but looks good and shipping from Brownells was fast as always
Excellent springs, but try the .308 in a 5.56!
I bought both a 5.56 and .308 spring. My rifle uses an A5 buffer system (A5H2 buffer) and Faxon 18-inch barrel with rifle-length gas system. I have found that using the .308 spring in this 5.56 rifle results in a super smooth-shooting, light-recoiling experience, with good ejection pattern and reliability. These springs are fantastic, but don’t rule out using the heavier .308 spring in your AR-15. But as always, YMMV, so test it out for yourself!

Great spring
I just bought two of these spring for other projects I'm working on. I recently installed one on a POF full size 308 that was not cycling. The gun ran perfect after the install. No jams, no malfunctions.
Works Well
I installed this in an Aero 308 build with no problems. It was a little fiddley getting in the buffer tube, but has functioned well, and smoothly. Can't speak to the 500,000 cycle life, but so far it's been a good choice.
This spring requires some thought
As stated before, if you are under gassed already, don't buy this spring unless you plan on cutting coils to suite/tune your rifle. After all, that is not that difficult for somebody with some smarts. This thing is ideal for carbine gas length 16 inch barrels suppressed or unsuppressed. Do not install it into a 16 inch mid-length or an 18 inch barrel with a rifle length gas tube unless you plan on cutting coils to tune it. These springs are the best of the best. Just required a little thought and planning with regards to your application.
Smoother and more reliable buffer spring
I came across a YouTube video about buffer springs which turned out to be by the designer of these. I'm not sure how in my decades of AR shooting I hadn't come across it previously previously. Also, had no idea why I never thought about the concept of a flat wire spring working so well in this application. I picked up a few from Brownells to test in some Vltor A5 pistols and rifles. I ran a few hundred through each setup using a variety of buffer weights (A5-H0 and H2). Previously I used either standard milspec rifle springs or the Geissele Super 42 rifle spring (which itself is a huge smoothness upgrade from milspec). While the AR has never really had much by way of felt recoil to me I have to say that the shooting experience with the flat wire buffer spring is completely different. The rifles and pistols became almost boringly tame. Follow up shots were much quicker as well. Even still it wasn't like the spring was soft, I could tell it had as much or slightly more strength, just tamer. I will expand the use of these into both carbine and rilfe length tubes, but for A5 this is perfect.
HEAVY DUTY SPRINGS
Tubbs springs are duty rated for over 500,000 compression cycles. Nobody does flatwire as good as Tubbs. The springs also lock up with more force, make less noise and also weigh less than round wire springs. Get these, you wont be disappointed!
Great upgrade, works great!
First of all, I don't know how this spring can be made to not work. I purchased a flat wire spring from another manufacturer, and it works the same yet not as quiet as the Tubb's flatwire springs. I bought 2 of these springs both installed in carbines with carbine length gas tubes and H3 buffer assemblies. These rifles function flawlessly, ejection is at 3:00 and my brass is not getting deformed by the extractor anymore. Other reviews are utilizing some high buck components in comparison to my carbines. So what are they doing wrong? I will continue to use these springs in my builds, there will be big savings in the long run.
I will buy more
This spring is solid. You can feel it the first time you rack your rifle. The thing goes into battery so smooth and so effortlessly i wonder sometimes if there is a bullet in there. The action of picking up a new round from the mag, then chambering it, is effortless for this spring. The difference is likened to accelerating down the off ramp on a moped vs 428 Cobra. It's just moves effortless and easy. I use mine in a carbine barreled Colt that only shoots suppressed. My other mod was the JP adjustable gas block. You can shoot the thing without blinking. Until the gas gets in your eyes of course.....
Best buffer spring out there
I first installed one of these springs in my BushMaster Carbon 15 because I wanted help to tame recoil and because it would last almost forever. My next rifle has a Del-Ton upper with a 1-7 twist and a NATO chamber. I had a stock buffer spring in it. I loaded up some hot rounds and shot them. I felt a lot of recoil and was getting doubling rounds (I have a light trigger) and I was bouncing all the rounds off the case deflector. I put one of these buffer springs and an Enedine buffer in and what a difference. My gun is now the softest shooting AR I have. The brass is ejected straight out about 3 feet. I would highly recommend this product and I will use it in every rifle I have.
