For those fans of the classic retro AR-15 look, Brownells teamed up with Nodak Spud to produce the Brownells Retro AR-15 Triangle Charging Handle. The Brownells Retro AR-15 Triangle Charging Handle is not an approximation but a carefully researched, detailed replica of the charging handle found on early, much-sought-after "601" rifles issued to the Air Force in the early 1960s. In fact, to distinguish our reproduction from originals, we had to engrave "BRN" hidden away at the bottom to prevent these from being confused with the genuine article.

Retro CH

Nice finishing touch to my A1 upper. The upper was old and beat up. The CH is obviously new but still matches better than the standard CH that was in it before. The fit and function is very good. I built this rifle, an XM177 clone, more as a conversation piece than a duty weapon. This CH and the gray retro lower lower finish this rifle off nicely.

Great replica, bad charging handle

OK, if you want to build an accurate original Colt 601, you must have this charging handle... once you get it, you will realize why it was replaced by the standard AR-15 charging handle of the M16E1. This thing hurts to use, it is much tinier than the pictures suggest. My recommendation? Buy it, put it on your 601 build. But when you go shooting, put on a real charging handle. Seriously, this thing will cheese grater your thumb and forefinger off.

Great for early builds

Installs easy (it's a charging handle, after all) and it adds a nice detail to one's 601 clone build. After using it for a little while, I can see why the "T" shaped charging handle was developed. Matt

Lets be honest

I got this for what I feel is high money because whats replacing it is 2/3rd the cost shipped. First Ill mention this is no cheese grater (I work). Extremely well executed using great material with attention to detail is notable w/ the grey being spot on. HOWEVER its a great replica of a charging whos design quickly evolved for a reason but if youre doing something retro with a rifle thats not a defensive weapon this IS for you. BUT youll pay; the finish & the Brownells customer service makes the difference; if you want both.
