Great Service, but Upper Missing Important Detail
I am a longtime user of Brownells and am a very satisfied customer, but this upper receiver, sadly, was not as described. I had this upper slated for a 601 build, but despite it being described as taking the 601 pivot pin--of which Brownells makes a faithful and gorgeous reproduction--there was no recessed cut in the pivot pin lug.
Other than that, this upper receiver was very well-made and -finished, and would be perfect for a retro 604 (Air Force-spec M16) build, it is not suited for a 601.
For The $90 Sale Price I Would Buy It
The upper looks great, but it does have the gap in the back that the other reviewers posted pictures of. It only gets 3 stars because the description is misleading and should be corrected. It states: "all points where other parts attach are finished current mil-spec dimensions, so current-production AR-15 components will fit perfectly." This appears to be an inaccurate statement due to the fact there is a noticeable gap in the back when mating to a MIL-SPEC lower. I can't comment on if there is a gap on a slab side lower, but if that is the case these uppers have a manufacturing defect.
