AR-15 SEMI-AUTO CHROME BOLT CARRIER GROUPS

AR-15 SEMI-AUTO CHROME BOLT CARRIER GROUPS Reviews & Ratings

AR-15 SEMI-AUTO CHROME BOLT CARRIER GROUPS

Whether or not you're looking to outfit your top-of-the-line tactical rifle with an easily cleaned, low-friction bolt-carrier group or you're aiming for a period-correct Model 601 or even an XM16E1, then the Brownells AR-15 Chrome Bolt Carrier Groups are a great option to finish off your build. Each of these Brownells AR-15 Chrome Bolt Carrier Groups features a bolt machined from 9130 tool steel sitting inside of a carrier machined from durable 8620 hardened steel. Both of these essential components, as well as the extractor, gas key and cam pin, are all plated with chrome to provide protection against corrosion, as well as offer a slick, low-friction surface for smoother operation and easier cleaning.

These bolt-carrier groups are built to work in any rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO, .223 Remington or 300 Blackout. However, they are not compatible with full-auto lower receivers. For those looking to finish up a retro build, the Brownells AR-15 Chrome Bolt Carrier Groups can be had with or without forward-assist serrations. The non-serrated model is correct for use on early AR-15s, like the Air Force Model 601, while the serrated model is correct for the early XM16E1 rifles of the mid-1960s.

Best bolt carrier option for AR15
I have tried bolt carrier groups with all types of coatings. The best option is the original as designed by Stoner, chrome! Runs smoother in the upper and easy clean up. This is a top choice if you are looking for a bolt carrier group for your AR15.

Looks great.....Works great
I'm using this for a model 601 build I'm doing. Finish was very uniform and looks great. Bolt was snug, but not too tight. It was a very matt finish on it. I buffed the contact points and the front part that shows through the ejection port to match the satin finish of the originals and it looks great now.

works great.

Great BGC
I purchased this to work with a billet Odin Works upper and not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but I cannot physically close the bolt slow enough get it to hang up. Great design, excellent build quality, generally worth it. Didn't realize how much I disliked having a forward assist until it was gone. Now I'm not sure I'd ever go back. I see what the Air Force and Eugene Stoner meant by added weight and complexity. With the chrome coating I really don't think it's all that necessary.

BCG for new build
Bought this for a AR build. I would have given it 5 stars but the cam pin was next to impossible to remove. After working it out and taking the bolt out, reinserting it in the bolt, it was an extremely tight fit. Would not turn in the bolt. Seriously thought about returning the entire BCG. After lubing it and turning it it got a tad easier but it looks like the edges for the hole for the firing pin were a little galled. I'll take the rifle out to the range and see if it functions ok.

Didn’t even work
I purchased the slick side Bcg for a new build. The head spacing was too short to the point that I couldn’t even chamber a round. I do not recommend this product at all.
