Just what was needed.
What I needed to install my hand guard that required a round cap.
Perfect
Had to R&R my front hand guard cap from a triangle to a round to fit and mid length SL hand guard. Thanks Magpul (sarcasm). Bought the Brownells front sight block and taper punch as well as two of these caps. After watching a Brownells how to video, I successfully knocked out the two sight pins and the gas tube roll pin. Had to use my small gunsmith (plastic side) hammer to tap the sight out. Took off the triangle cap and added the round cap. Replaced the two sight pins and gas tube roll pin. Thankfully I watched the video and bought the aforementioned tools and cap. These caps fit the SL perfectly with no issues.
It holds the handguard
Not a quality piece at all. It arrived warped and had to be flattened on an anvil. The only redeeming factor is that it does hold the handguard.
Not As Pictured
Ordered this end cap specifically because I need one with the shorter stamped sections that prevent handguard rotation. Checked the pictures and even borrowed a friends LuthAR end cap to confirm fitment. Received this one only to find that that it has the larger detents.
Garbage
I didn't think you could mess up a stamped piece of steel. Luth-AR proved me wrong! The one I received was so crooked I had to work it on an anvil to get the front sight even close! I used a YHM bolt-on front sight and had to snug the bolts and tap with a soft-headed hammer to halfway seat the sight. I'm not happy with the fit and will have to order something different to finish this build. The guy should have had his gun on 1/21 but Brownells didn't include the Brownells brand cap in the original shipment, by the time I caught it they were out of stock. They replaced it with this thing that I received on 1/25. Now he will have to wait a few more days for another replacement from another supplier! DO NOT BUY THIS PART!!!!
