AR-15 RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM II

AR-15 RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM II Reviews & Ratings

DANIEL DEFENSE AR-15 RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM II

A machined aluminum multi-rail handguard specifically designed for the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) M4A1 carbine, the RIS II enables installation of an M203 40mm grenade launcher, while allowing the barrel to free float. The M203 attaches to the bottom rail quickly and easily, without special tools or additional parts. Full-length, MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails provide plenty of space to add other mission-specific accessories as needed. Top rail is designed to mate continously with the receiver rail. All models come with all required mounting hardware, instructions, and three molded polymer, snap-on rail covers. RIS II requires the installation of a low-profile gas block. FSP RIS II models have a cutout in the top rail that allows retention of the standard A2 gas block/front sight tower on a carbine-length gas system. MK 18 RIS II is specifically designed for an M4A1 carbine with Mk18 CQBR (Close Quarters Battle Receiver) upper receiver and 10.3" barrel. Provides barrel free-float and expanded accessory mounting options, while deleting M203 mounting capability. Requires low-profile gas block.

a fascinating product
A really well made product. It's been a while since I've had it in stock and bought it, and I love it!

Perfect Upgrade!
Been waiting for the DD RIS II FSP Handguard to come back in stock for a while, but once it did, it was an impulse purchase. This is one of the best upgrades I've installed on my Colt LE6920. In my experience, Daniel Defense products are top-tier quality and, although pricey, well worth it. I've used several different quad rail handguards over the years, and this is by far one of the best. The fit/finish is excellent and I could not be happier!

great product
one reviewer on this product thought the grenade launcher makes it so expensive.wrong. i own one and its hands down the best rail on the market for any application. the fde coating is a different story. the high cost pertains to one reasn:daniel defense makes it for socom. if u want the best there is, then prepare to pay a lil more than average. it all depends on if u ur willing to step up to the tier 1 level when it comes to buying parts for your AR

Great Product
This is a legitimate military spec product. In my opinion it is one of the best of it's type. I would like to mention the Flat Dark Earth (FDE) color because it can be hard to tell the color from pictures. It is actually kind of a dark copper brown. I think it looks great but it isn't anything like the FDE of many other products like the Magpul line. The grenade launcher compatibility feature is not particularly useful to me. I bet it is great for the professionals that need it. In my opinion some of the other free float rails out there that are not grenade launcher compatible have a little "cleaner" aesthetic look and cost less. I think I paid a little more than I needed to because of the grenade launcher feature. Don't get me wrong I gave the RIS II five stars because it is a five star product it just may be more than some people may need.

Best upgrade I ever made
I've been using this on my AR for competition shooting for about four months now. The extra handguard length I gained over a traditional carbine handguard really helps with controllability. I can mount a light far enough forward to reduce barrel for night shoots, and I can use a thumb over bore grip out past the FSP. Best thing is, I now have a 12" free-floated handguard on my carbine, and I didn't have to buy a low-profile gas block and a rail-mounted front sight or have a gunsmith shave down my front sight to fit under the rail.

premium, rock solid free float handguard
I have this on a mid-length dd ar15 with a low profile gas block. Like I stated in the title, this thing is rock solid, premium quality. As it should be, considering it will be in the SOPMOD 2 kit for SOCOM. Plus, it looks great, too. It fits 16 inch barrels very well due to the length and provides much real estate for attachments. All in all, I would say this is a no brainer for someone looking to use the best of the best on their AR15. The only downside is that it's weight is significant--likely contributing to it's use as a heavy duty part for military applications.
