Worth the effort to install them
These are great because you can put them on practically any 5.56 magazine, whether USGI or Magpul, or another maker. These are perfect for your plate carrier shingle or tactical vest pouch. The only difficulty with them is how hard they are to install or remove, because they're made to fit very snug and not slip. I found that a flat thin tool like a titanium prybar is helpful in getting the magpul on or off. Then you have to firmly wiggle the magpul on/off millimeter by mm. I use these magpuls on my USGI mags and the ranger plates for my magpul mags.
Great pull for metal magazines
This was one of MagPuls first products and was designed to be slipped on to USGI aluminum and steel magazines instead of using duct tape and paracord. If you are stuck with this type magazines this is an excellent system for quickly retrieving magazines from pouches. I've even added these pulls to Black Dog's 10 and 15 round .22 caliber magazines. If you have trouble installing them soak in a bowl of hot water and then slip them on. I personally have swapped out all my metal 5.56 magazines for the MagPul Gen 3 magazine with the ranger plate.

These work great for magazines as intended. You can slide them down the magazine body further if you need more room in your pouches. If you need them to tell which end of the magazine is up you need more training.
Beats 550 cord and tape
Very nice design and great price. I've used these on GI mags and now on my Magpul mags. Easy to install and they work well.
Easy removal
A simple product that does exactly what it is supposed to. I use a Maxpedition pack as an active shooter bag and it stacks the mags side-by-side. This makes it very easy to remove them. Just be patient installing them.
Hmmmm....Not Exactly What I Thought
The other reviewer Snowshoe in Fl. got it right. It looks like a good idea but does not really pan out in use. They do work but could really use some improvement to get it right. The paracord & Duct tape will do as well, for less money. I'm a newbie to AR rifles so take what I say w/ a big grain of salt. I'm old but I'm learnin'.
Good product
Easy to put on. Works great for fishing mags out of pouches. I used to use the 550 cord loops, which I still prefer for mag retention(use with a carabiner). These pulls work well with a drop bag.
Just Works as Advertised
So simple and so useful - and they work! And they make a fine makeshift monopod without any extra bulk or weight. Send me a few more for those folks that try to buy mine at the range!
My Least Favorite MagPul Product
Another reviewer named Snowden hit it all on the head. I think this was MagPul's first product ever (might be wrong about that) and they've improved a lot over the years. If you're looking for some sort of an extension, go for the MagPul Ranger floorplate which can also be used as a base when using your magazine as a monopod. The problem with these is that they're so smushy feeling, they are more of a detriment than a benefit when trying to use the magazine for support, or when you give the mag a smack to ensure that it's properly seated. In short, all my magazines have a Ranger floorplate now, except for a few I keep "plain" so they'll fit in a mag pouch.
