MOE® SL FURNITURE SET M-LOK CARBINE LENGTH FOR AR-15

MOE® SL FURNITURE SET M-LOK CARBINE LENGTH FOR AR-15 Reviews & Ratings

Upgrade your AR-15 rifle with this MOE-SL furniture set by Magpul. The MOE SL Stock – Mil-Spec Model is a drop-in replacement buttstock for AR-15/M4 carbines using mil-spec or commercial sized receiver extension tubes. Designed for the modern battlefield, the sleek profile, dual-side release latches, rolled toe, and angled rubber butt-pad is optimized for use with body armor or modular gear and provides for efficient shoulder transitions.

The MOE SL Hand Guard for AR-15/M4 firearms with carbine-length gas system and A2 front sight provides modular flexibility with M-LOK accessory slots in a lightweight, sleek, cost effective design. Similar to the MOE-K2, the MOE SL Grip (Magpul Original Equipment Slim Line) is a drop-in upgrade for AR-15/M4 pistol grips with a more vertical grip angle optimized for short LOP weapons that bring the primary hand in closer to the shooter’s body.

With an aggressive new texture for positive weapon control along with excellent ergonomics, the SL Grip provides a slightly smaller size and slimline feel. All mounting hardware included. Must be used with the triangular A2 front sight assembly; other gas blocks are not compatible.

Fits Smith & Wesson Sports 2
believe it or not...i installed these within 30 minutes... requires a few tools but nothing to hard. if you need help search it on youtube. The hardest part was the hard guard which I did not have a tool for. I am very satisfied.

Good Kit
I ordered this setup for my SBR and I am happy with the choice. The stock fits on a BCM receiver extension with no play and the hand guard mounted very solidly to a standard Delta-ring setup. The handguard is very tight so an installation tool should be used. I somewhat liked the grip, but I like the MIAD more so I swapped for the MIAD. Of course this is a personal preference and has nothing to do with the quality of the SL grip. I mounted Magpul M-LOK accessories to the handguard and they are rock solid. This is a great setup.

Excellent Design
I didn't buy these as a set, but I own all three components. They are excellent products, and the only one I don't still use is the handguard because I finally invested in a monolithic rail. The stock, or specifically the butt pad, is the main reason for the missing star - the rubberized surface is smoothing out with time, and for mounting they switched to narrow, coarse-thread screws which thread directly into plastic, so don't get carried away testing the optional extended butt pad like I did. The former issue isn't the end of the world, though, and the latter I simply got around with super glue. The stock itself is slightly heavier than its peers, if hardly a brick, but it's also a tough design. Moreover, the flat butt profile is comfortable and versatile, the ambi adjustment levers are tucked protectively under the sloping cheek piece, there are two sling loops and an ambi QD slot, and a pair of internal leaf springs minimize play and rattle without the need to engage a separate friction lock. The grip is a little on the small side, but the profile, angle, and texture are all excellent, and it remains one of my favorites. As for the handguard, it's an effort to install, but only because, like the stock, it's meant to fit tightly and minimize rattle, and in any case it doesn't have to be removed to mess with accessories thanks to the embedded MLOK slots. There are vent holes along the top, ridges to improve hand purchase, and the front extends to cover the bottom and sides of the gas block to maximize the safe handling area (which may not fit some sling loop/bayonet lug designs, but you can always trim the plastic). An outstanding set of furniture.

Over time handguard becomes lose
The stock and grip are simple and good to go, the handguard is tight when you install it but just after a few range trips it is lose.

Cosmetic upgrade, somewhat impractical
Handguard: I've had this on my carbine for a couple years now. The best thing I can say about it is it gives my carbine a cool two-tone look that gets compliments at the range. Unfortunately it hasn't been the best for practical reasons. First, the plastic is too weak for M-Lok fittings. I ended up permanently damaging one of the slots installing a weaponlight just trying to get it tight enough not to wobble. Second, it's too short on the bottom relative the the amount of space available for mounting. General rule for shooting, if you're going to do supported shooting you can't rest it on the barrel, it has to be on the handguard. So if I try to do this through a VTAC barricade, the light (mounted left side for thumb activation) strikes the port and prevents movement. So to make this work you have to back the light up and use a pressure switch, but there's no M-LOK/Pic on top to mount it on. So now you need to use the 2-way tape. None of this makes this a bad product--it's an upgrade over milspec furniture and it's reasonably priced. It'll work fine for most home defense or sporting applications. But if you're going to be getting into drills on the VTAC or more serious tactical use, I'd suggest getting something higher-end.
