Poor flash hider and poor brake

I purchased this product hoping to find a muzzle device that provided recoil reduction, flash suppression, and minimal blast to the sides. Well...it doesn't produce a lot of blast. In a night shooting class, this brake produced giant yellow fireballs from the end of my 14.5" AR-15, while 3 classmates had small orange flames from their 16" rifles. I swapped ammo and again saw larger flash, while my ammo produced only a small orange flame in another rifle (equipped with an A2 flash-hider)...therefore, it wasn't my ammo. I also found that this brake doesn't reduce recoil very much, as compared to a competition style brake (e.g. the Miculek), or even the Yankee Hill Machine muzzle brake (which did a much better job suppressing flash, also). My final gripe is that this muzzle device is very heavy compared to others its size. The inside diameter is constant through the whole length of the brake...there is no "expansion chamber" inside, and the thickness of the wall at the forward end of the 3 slits is the only surface to provide any braking action. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for an effective muzzle device.
