Barrel was shipped with care and looks exactly identical to picture.

Like the Spiral Fluting and most of the research that I've done confirms that this is a quality barrel.

I love this Barrel. The Flame Fluting gives me the pros of a heavier profile barrel while improving barrel cooling. The rifling twist is great for a broad range of ammo, I've found mine is consistent with everything up to 75gr, with a particular affinity to 62gr, and of course, the nitride treatment means this barrel will maintain consistent as it wears. I would give this 5 stars except for a minor annoyance when building the rifle. There is no gas port alignment mark on the barrel.

Faxon 16" Match Flame Fluted barrel arrived well packaged in plastic bag, that was inside of triangular card board sleeve, which was inside of another card board sleeve, which was inside of the shipping box! Talk about packing. The barrel extension and threaded muzzle end were both well machined, finished and protected by thick red protective plastic caps. 5 shot groups with Match 69 gr.. BTHP's, produced easily repeatable 1/2"-1" groups at 100 yards, which was better than what was expected from this build, and barrel. 100% hits on 18" x 30" steel targets out to 400 yards was so easy, it was literally boring. NOTE: The scope tested with this build utilized the ACSS combat reticle and BDC function. As such it was a poor platform for testing precision accuracy, however, it should provide easy 100% hits when rapidily transitioning between targets set at 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 600 yards. The performance potential of this barrel has not been tapped, but we will be running it with a target scope and 75 grain bullets to see what is can really do in upcoming weeks.

BTHP's, produced repeatable 1" or smaller groups at 100 yards, which was better than what was expected from this build, and barrel. Utilizing this optic and barrel combo to achieve 100% hits on 18" x 30" steel targets out to 400 yards was so easy, it was literally boring. NOTE: The scope tested with this build provides an excellent combat reticle and BDC function when set at 8x, however, it is a poor platform for accuracy testing. The performance of this barrel has not been tapped at this point, but we will be running it with a target scope next and 75 grain bullets to see what it can really do.

Installed this barrel on a Aero precision receiver combined with a Nickel boron WMD bolt carrier and 3 1/2 lb Timney trigger. I tested all my reloads off a rested bench for no movement and consistency. The barrel looks nice with the Flame fluting but sadly didnt meet my expectations with its groupings. In testing the 77 gr noslers which shot 1/2. and 3/4 groups, then 69 gr SMK, 75 gr. 68 gr. 62 gr. And 55 gr. Hornady hand loads with mediocre success. My 16 Daniel defense rifle easily outshoots across the board all the loads above over the Faxon build that I built for precision. I am very experience in load development and the Faxon barrel didnt deliver. Faxon doesnt offer a 1 MOA garentee so it is what it is. I would call this barrel a 1 1/2 average MOA barrel which is pretty decent for an Ar 15. I may have too high of expectations so take my review with a grain of salt. The only reason I wouldnt recommend this to a friend is because the ones I shoot with would want tighter average groups for the money.
