Good product
This upper checked all the boxes for my building needs. Ive ordered two so far. The first one I received l was sure had been returned and Brownells was willing to exchange, but the slight scuffs in the BCG area wasnt enough to deter me and set my schedule back. I would like it it the product had been listed as blemished. The second wasnt pristine, very slight nicks in anondizing that I noticed on the first upper too. The quality of the upper isnt in question though and the price is outstanding.
Check before lapping barrel nut thread
Before lapping the upper barrel nut thread, make sure to insert barrel and check the feed ramp. For me, without lapping, the barrel is sticking out At the feed ramp...
Good, but...
The upper is solid and fit my Anderson lower nicely. The downside was that the dust cover does not want to snap close easily. I thought it was the dust cover at first, but comparing the milling where the dust cover closes on this receiver compared to another AR upper, the groove is noticeably less and smaller.
Matches my Ruger lower perfectly
I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fitment. 3.5 more like it. Has a good matte black color, does not scratch easily. But I had to sand down the rear kickdown block. I added pictures of what I mean. Also very tight tolorences on the buffer tube, if ANY threads stick out a bit it will not close. I had to back it out a bit, still enough to keep the pin in but I didn't like that either. Will use it for a bit and see how she works but will likely upgrade at a later date.
