LOW PROFILE GAS BLOCKS FOR AR-15

LOW PROFILE GAS BLOCKS FOR AR-15 Reviews & Ratings

Perfect for any rail system, these ultra-low profile gas blocks are the ideal companion for Faxon Firearms (or any other) barrels with a standard diameter gas journal. Made from high-strength steel, all Faxon gas blocks are a matching black luster to their barrels.

For lightweight builds, the block is drilled through the middle of the profile. The gas block clamps on to the barrel using 3 allen keys on the bottom of the block.

Faxon Firearms highly recommends the use of Loc-Tite or similar thread-locking compounds. Gas blocks will get very hot, so pick a compound according to your intended use of the firearm.

Faxon Gas Block
First time using a Faxon 3 screw gas block. I got it as a picked up a Faxon barrel on special. Impressed with the quality of the block no difference is length than standard 2 screw blocks. Pilot hole lined up perfectly. I only dimple the first set screw.

Great Gas Block
Installed this gas block on a Faxon pencil barrel and it fit perfect with no problems. Overall fit and finish was excellent. The main reason I went with this gas block was to ensure that it would fit and run without any issues on a Faxon pencil barrel. I couldn't be happier. Fits perfectly under the Aero Atlas S-One hanguard. I would definitely recommend this gas block!!!

LT 308 Block
In my desire to piece together a light 308, I chose this Faxon GB and put it on a Faxon 18" rilfe length Pencil Bbl. I really wanted an adjustable block, but now that I have shot it, I'm convinced this was the right choice for the goals of this build. I have been running some hot surplus ball down the barrel, and the block is staying put (no set screw dimpling was performed, just LocTite and torque). Fits , with plenty of headroom, under a Midwest Ind. SS MLock float handguard. Oh, and the roll pin for the gas tube is staying put too.

3 builds and no cycling failures
I built my first rifle with an unknown name brand gas block. It had cycling issues and it did not feed on 10th or 20th round fired. So I decided to replace it with this gas block, Brownell's nitride gas tube and viola! I've had no issues since. I built 300 BO and 308 ARs using same gas block, no problems.

Come on Faxon
Installation was easy, fit well. That said, a couple suggestions for Faxon. A gas tube roll pin would be nice, and a dimple on your barrel to match this gas block to would be helpful.

Functional but poor finish
I installed this block in the .625 model for the Faxon gunner profile barrel. It works well, installed cleanly and stayed tight. A personal problem for me is that after less than a week it took on superficial rust. I know its not really a problem but I suppose I expected better.

Not what I expected
I purchased a Faxon mid length gas tube so I would keep the same manufacturers. To my surprise the tube bottomed out 1/4 inch short of the pin hole. I had to shave off the tube to fit correctly. I don't believe the tube was off or out of spec. I believed having the same manufacturer would save me of problems but I was wrong.

Not Faxon quality
I purchased four of these and had problems with three of them. The first was too small to fit on a .750 barrel and I returned it. The second was a very tight fit with one end the correct diameter and the other slightly too small and required some sanding to fit. The third cracked on one end when I tightened the screws. Only one worked properly. I will most likely replace it since I am concerned that with so little mass, it will eventually heat up and crack. These look good and are lightweight but the quality isn't what I expect from Faxon and their excellent barrels. Do not recommend. The nitride Brownells version is better.

Bag tolerance gas block
Purchased this gas block to install on an 18 inch Faxon Pencil Barrel and the darn thing would not fit! Went to my local dealer which sells 16 inch Faxon Pencil barrels and it would not fit on that one either. Expected more from Faxon! In the process of trying to return this and the pencil barrel I ordered.
