AR-15 GEN II EXTENDED MAGAZINE RELEASES

AR-15 GEN II EXTENDED MAGAZINE RELEASES Reviews & Ratings

Though the first generation of the ODIN Works XMR Extended Magazine Release was a huge success, a large number of AR owners demanded a version of the release that was compatible with the Magpul BAD lever. Now, with the Gen II version of its XMR magazine release, ODIN Works is giving today's AR enthusiasts exactly what they asked for. Each ODIN Works XMR Extended Magazine Release is machined from 6061 aluminum and is designed to provide a larger, push-button surface area that makes releasing magazines faster and easier than ever before. This release features the ODIN boomerang cut, and installation takes only minutes. The release fits both AR-15 and AR 308 style rifles.

Great addition
Fits great, easy access from the trigger finger. Very stylish without affecting functionality. Comparable price to other magazine release buttons on the market.

Will not work on FosTech billet lowers
Despite this item not working for me, as stated in the review headline, I gave it 4*. It loses a star due to its specific design and that being wrought with the possibility of incompatibility. But earned 4* because I have four others that work well on a Colt M4 lower, a Spartan lower, a S&W 15-22 lower, as well as a Gen3 model on a POF-USA Renegade+ lower. The FosTech has an Echo trigger, so the trigger pin areas are problematic despite it not employing anti-walk or anti-rotation pins. I went with the Magpul model this time around because of the circumstances.

Great for most but not for all.
Appeared to be of great quality/construction and was athletically pleasing when installed. However, the rifle that this was being install on had a non-rotating pin kit installed. Due to the inward contour of the extension it prohibited full manipulation of the magazine release as it would bottom out prematurely and not release the magazine. The other point of interest to note is that because of the angle at which pressure is applied to the release it felt as though it was binding up slightly. It is unknown if this would cause any problems as it was never successfully used. I will be attempting to install a different extended release on this rifle, one without an inward contour, to see if this problem persists. As for this one, if you have, or plan to install a non-rotating pin kit, this magazine release will not work.
