Great gas block
This gas block kit fits great, the extra rails are very useful, thank you.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
gas block - Bayonet Lug.
we got in the gas block - bayonet lug. went on great - fast, with a AR 15 roll pin starter. add 2 small drops of blue lock tight on all 2 or 4 Alin screws, to be safe!
Dont judge a book by its cover
Have over 4000 rounds thought this gas block at a high rate of fire without one malfunction. Outstanding part, very useful.
Now it's over gased
ejecting rounds @ 2:00, ck rings good, block is tight & level, any suggestions
Fit well, rail is very low
The measurements, specifically the ID was spot on .750. It had a good tight fit on my barrel, with a little soap to slick it, it went on no problem. The only thing to point out is the rail on this is lower than most rail systems / hand guards w/ a rail, so you won't be able to do much with it. Make sure you measure twice and ensure this is what you need and not something with a taller tail on top. Also, ensure whatever hand guards you are using allow bottom access to tighten the three Allen screws in this block, even with the tight fit, you need to secure those screws. I would offer that this gas block would be perfect for standard old school AR / M16A2 style hand guards as they "end" before the gas block "begins" and the addition of this rail will rise above those types of guards. If your rail system covers the bottom of the gas block area, chances are you won't be able to access / tighten the set screws and this will become a useless piece of metal. Also, it does not come with a pin for the gas block, it requires a tad bit longer roll pin than the standard AR front sight base takes, while you can use a standard length roll pin just fine, it will be short on both ends if that matters to you.
Wrong Height for Magpul Flip Sights
I purchased this as a part of a refurbish for a rental gun at the range I work at. While the block installed easily and has so far held up, the rail is too low for a set of Magpul flip sights. Raising the front post to its maximum height still had the rifle shooting a good inch high at 25 yards.
Works as advertised !!
I purchased and installed the modular gas block when I first got my AR. I wanted to have a flip up/down front sight to partner with my removable carry handle's rear sight. Works great. Later I wanted more mounting ability so I purchased the removeable rails to mount on the block. They of course mounted properly, fine machined parts, couldn't be more please with the entire unit.
screw holes strip real easy.
This is made of aluminum. The threads strip very easy.
Ok for now
I have installed it on my AR and it works. One of the draw backs is that I feel the housing is made out of a too soft aluminum. I am wondering how the gas port hole is going to hold up with this soft aluminum. I also stripped some threads installing one of the rails. I was using a torque wrench set at 15 in lbs to do this. I helicoiled the screw hole and everything is fine. I think all the screw holes should be helicoiled. Other than that, I think this is a good product.
With your eyes closed!!
It's easy to install the gas block but it was not easy to remove the old gas block with front sight housing. On the video was it easy but it was'nt. The old gastube is broken bij removing. No trouble with the screws, little more than hand tight
