What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Effectiveness
55%
Several reviewers found the bench block helpful for pin removal tasks, particularly when working with mil-spec AR-15 front sights. It simplifies the otherwise cumbersome process of driving out taper pins, making it a preferred tool for experienced users.
Design Flaws
70%
A significant portion of reviews indicate dissatisfaction with the block's design, particularly regarding misaligned holes and lack of support for various barrel types. This has led to issues like difficulty in striking pins squarely and overall frustration for users.
Compatibility Issues

AR-15 "A" frame front sight post Bench Block
This bench block worked okay. It is a 2 sided block, one side to drift the tapered pins for the front sight out and one side to drive them back in. The side to drift the pins out the tolerances were a little off and didn't align with the bottom holes where the pins are supposed to drift out to. Also trying to fit the front sight post in the machined area was really tight. I was still able to fenagle it in there good enough to get the pins out, but the pins did mar the surface and again the front sight post didnt align well causing the pins to not align with the holes below. Maybe I got the bad apple, but definitely need to check those tolerances.

Not that great
FSB rolls when striking the taper pins. Very hard to get solid hits. Prepare for a lot of frustration and scuffed finish. With one more channel machined Into the block to properly support the bottom of the FSB this would be a great tool. As it stands I feel like I wasted $40.

Pin direction wrong for Stag Arms.....
I thought brownells knew something I didnt when I tried removing the pins from my Stag Arms FSB. Admittedly I am a rookie with tools which can be dangerous. Unless pin removal direction is universal, which it isnt, the words "Pins In" and "Pins Out" should not be printed on the thing. Useful tool otherwise......

My experience of this product
I gave this product 2 stars only because it does not support entirely the FSB especially at the critical points. When FSB is laid, it is tilted thus the pins are not perpendicular to the base which will make it harder to punch out, especially if the pins are real tight. Brownells should made this bench block from the mould of FSB so that all critical points are properly supported instead of milling it out from the blank.

Needs modification
Works just as intended for removing pins with the factory stock retainer. It cannot be used when re-installing pins after addition of railed free float tubes. Needs more think time.
