AR-15 EARLY 3 PRONG FLASH HIDER 22 CAL

AR-15 EARLY 3 PRONG FLASH HIDER 22 CAL Reviews & Ratings

AR-15 EARLY 3-PRONG FLASH HIDER 22 CALIBER

Complete your Retro build with the Brownells Early 3 Prong “Duckbill” flash hider. The “Duckbill” flash hider was found on some of the earliest AR-15 rifles such as the Colt Model 601 used by the US Air Force. These were eventually phased out due to the lightweight prongs bending. Looks great at home on a Retro rifle, or any AR-15 of your choice.

  • Original, Early 3 Prong “Duckbill” design
  • Phosphate finish
  • ½-28 threads
  • Modeled directly off of original part

Build the proper 601 or Retro rifle of your choice with an Early 3 Prong Flash Hider. This muzzle device does not have wrench flats to install. A strap wrench or 3 prong armorers wrench is needed to properly install.

Phosphate Duckbill
Despite the pictures showing an uneven finish, the one I received had a nice, consistent phosphate finish. Threaded on with no issues. Nicely machine, no obvious marks, chips or dings. Also doubles as a tuning fork like all 3 prong flash hiders. Very happy for the price.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

3 prong can't be wrong
I have a couple of the "newer" 3 prong flash hiders on some of my other retro builds and generally liked them. I brought this duck billed F/H along with the early triangle charging handle to finish out a 601 build. It's a quality piece, well made & finished. Looks good on the end of my rifle's pencil barrel. Brownell's has done it again!

Finish Too Smooth
Machine work good. Finish; too smooth/shiney. Does not match phosphate finish on Brownell's Retro barrel. Does not match my memory from 1974. I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I do not recommend this 3 prong flash hider for a retro build. It is good for other builds.
