YHM Quality
Like many other YHM products, this one shows quality & good looks all in one package. Used this for a 11.5 pistol upper build. Installation was a breeze & mated well with an Aero receiver. My only con is that I didnt have the YHM spanner wrench for the jam nut. Standard armorers tool & torque wrench worked fine for barrel nut, but had to very carefully use channel locks with padding to torque down jam nut as much as I could. At this price point, YHM should include a spanner wrench in the package. Still give it 5 stars for fit and finish.

Perfect Alignment
I bought one of those free float handguards a couple yrs ago and built my son a 16" mid-length HB 5.56 NATO using an Anderson lower. I also built a matching one for myself. The "kit" I bought came with a two piece handguard that was similar to this BUT when my son went to install a scope on his build it was IMPOSSIBLE to get the scope to install correctly due the fact that the two piece handguard did NOT line up (height wise) with the A3 Picatinny upper. The two piece handguard, being a cheap model and most likely made in china was built using European measurements whereas the Anderson lower and the kit's upper was mil-standard using American measurements. Needless to say, mm and inch scale ARE NOT compatible what-so-ever!! Ask anyone that owns a FAL. After reading the specs on the YHM web site and seeing that their Guarantee said that this would MATCH PERFECTLY with a mil-standard upper, I purchased this from Brownells. After installation, the scope mounted exactly as it should and both my son and I were very happy with results. And though YHM is cheaper than a lot of other handguards, I will always use YHM products since they are made in America and **to the proper specs** so fitting and gunsmithing are not required AND they stand behind their products. You will NOT be disappointed with YHM quality and I wholeheartedly recommend these products!!! PS - I selected *Limited Function* as a con since YHM requires a special tool to tighten the jam nut on their free float handguards, but anyone that is used to overcoming minor problems will know that a very large and well built screw driver & a hammer can be used to tighten the nut and this is just another "field expedient" fix that anyone with a little common sense would use anyway!! Though if you plan on using or installing more than 1 or 2 of these OR are prone to tinker and change out parts on a frequent basis solely for the sake of "experimenting", the special tool would be advisable ;-)

won't work on Bushmaster Carbon 15
I have no problem with the product. I have used them on many gun through my shop. I did find out (the hard way) that the barrel nut threads on the Bushmaster Carbon 15 is larger that the one supplied with this product. Maybe Brownells can add that to the description.

Another homerun from Brownell's
Once again Brownell's sent a product that was just as advertised. The hand guard looks great, does not add extra weight (feels about the same weight as the original hand guards), was a snap to install and is very secure with NO movement. The only negative I can pass on is that it would have been nice to include the wrench to tighten the lock ring on the barrel nut. I got it tight but had to red-neck engineer a wrench.

Great product
Excellent product. Solid good workmanship for the money.

Does not cover a low pro gas block
Let me start off by saying I am a first time builder. That being said I took the description of a mid-length free float hand guard to mean it would extend past the gas block. Well I was wrong. My learning experience is now yours. if you want to cover the gas block on a mid-length system you will want at least a 12" forearm. The description basically tells you that the forearm will stop just before the gas black. Besides my error, this is a quality forearm that i will install on a carbine length system down the road.

Best bang for the buck
I bought this simply because of its price point. But after receiving the item, I found that its more value than money. It mounts up solid not BS no gimmicks. Simply put the barrel nut on, slide on the handguard and lock it down with the 2 anto-rotation screws. KISS Keep it simple stupid.

very pleased
To start out this hand guard looks very good and feels good too. The rails don't have any sharp edges so it's pretty easy to shoot without rail covers or gloves. the diamond pattern is supposed to help keep it cool and it does stay cooler than other guards. The added length allowed me to put my magpul forward grip right under the gas block witch gives me much more control over recoil and muzzle control. I did not purchase the end cap to go with it and don't think i will seeing as it looks awesome without it.
