With the popularity of short, pistol-length, AR-style firearms on the market, more of today's AR owners are seeing a phenomenon that occurs on semi-automatic firearms with short gas systems: overgassing. The result of overgassing is increased wear on internal components, as well as increased felt recoil. To address these issues, Aero Precision launched its AR-15 Carbine Buffer Kit.

Several options are available in Aero Precision's Carbine Buffer Kit lineup. Each kit ships with a mil-spec buffer tube machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and features slots for a six-position buttstock. The kits also include a buffer spring, end plate and castle-lock nut. However, where the kits differ is in the weight of the included buffer. The Aero Precision AR-15 Carbine Buffer Kit can be had with a standard buffer spring, a H (Heavy) buffer, an H2 buffer or a heavy H3 buffer, so AR owners can fine-tune their operating system to reduce overgassing.

Buffer weights are 3 ounces, 4 ounces, 4.6 ounces or 5.6 ounces, respectively.

Exceptional value and quality

My wife needed a shorter stock on an AR-15 build. The Aero tube with spring and buffer are very nicely machined and finished. With Brownell's online chat help, I was able to confirm this model was the correct one for my Carbine rifle build. It now resides in the Hogue Overmolded stock and grip combo Brownells sells, another superb value.

Can't beat it for the money.

I shoot several different uppers and calibers. I use this carbine length system for a 26" bull riffle in 5.56 & a 16" pencil carbine as well as a 18" mid length 6.5 grendel and a 16" heavy barreled 7.62*39 carbine. It works well for all of them no hiccups. P.S. I'm kind of an AR snob too.

AERO has nice toys that work

This one is a spare still in the bag but the other ones work great and no problems. Have different weight buffers that I use. And run with a break away stock for folding and easy to pack.

Nice buffer ass'y

The fit and finish on the tube was perfect... both inside and out. I've heard complaints on other tubes about the inside being rough. Not on this one. I'm a machinist by trade and I would put my name on this if I had machined it. No slop in the threads in the lower, no slop on the castle nut. Overall, great fit. Buffer looks good and the spring seems springy ;) Haven't shot it yet, but it's a buffer assembly, I'm sure it will work.

very good quality

I bought this for my Aero (upper and lower) 10.3" Brownells barreled AR15 pistol that I put together. Very good quality parts and went together easily and looks great. I chose the heavy buffer because of the short barrel and it works great. The pistol has reduced felt recoil and you can definitely tell that it does not slam the bolt back as hard compared to a standard carbine buffer. It just a clean, Aero upper, lower, receiver extension and parts.

Very nice fit and finish. 100 % made in the USA. The drain holes are a nice feature. Clean threads and well machined. I've been buying a lot of Aero products lately and everything has been great without a high price.

Each part appears to be very precisely machined and finished very well. The only thing I can think of that would make this better is if they had put reference marks on the top of the tube, but this is not a criticism. I could not be more satisfied and I would buy this again.
