AR-15 BUILDER KIT Reviews & Ratings

You supply the trigger/fire control components, pistol grip, buttstock/buffer system, and triggerguard of your choice. Luth-AR’s Builder Kit covers everything else. No need to purchase all these commodity parts separately, only to sit down on a weekend to do your project...and find out your missing one or more small bits! The complete contents of the LLRPK-BLDR lower receiver parts kit are:

  • Buffer Retainer & Buffer Retainer Spring
  • Safety selector lever + detent
  • Selector/Ejector spring
  • Bolt Catch + spring, plunger & roll pin
  • Magazine catch
  • Magazine release button (aluminum)

Does what it says
This kit is all the pins you need to complete the lower without including parts that you dont need. There is an excellent diagram and parts list on the rear of the card. I am considering buying extra sets as backups.

Solid kit
Solid kit with only the parts I needed. Clearly labeled, easy to use. Out of three kits one had an issue with the safety lever, detent holes cut too deep.

Bolt Catch Issue, Good Otherwise
All the parts fit well except for the bolt catch release. It had a machining error on the front face. This slight bevel meant that the face of the bolt would not catch but would ride over it. This error may be happening during the finishing/grinding operation. The rest of the parts fit well and seem to be operating fine after my initial test session yesterday. I ended up getting a new bolt catch release from my local shop for $8 which solved the problem. Sale price was very good so Im about even with the one I could have bought at the store. Oh well. Win some lose some. I didnt ding the review harsh because if they correct this flaw, itll be a good budget kit.

Kinda bad
The bolt catch had a strange deformation on the top edge. The safety selector did not get MIMed properly and it flops around in the safe position with a weird catch halfway through.
