Works great!
Works great with my Spikes Tactical ST9G receiver set. Ballistic Advantage barrel, BCM trigger. Fit and finish were very good, functions perfectly. Glock lower receiver, I have used Glock and magpul mags so far. Works great.
Ran great
I paired this bolt with a faxon 8.5 inch barrel in a 9mm upper with a milspec lower with JP reduced weight trigger springs installed and an extended 9 mm buffer with a mean arms mag conversion kit (look it up) 400 rounds of random USA made ammo all different weights and not one hiccup, the kids did most of the shooting so alot of rapid fire Im very pleased
Worked great in Rock River receivers.
I have built several PCC guns using Rock River uppers and lowers. This bolt worked with an RRA R9 stainless 16" barrel, an RRA 7.5 inch barrel, and an MBX 14" comp barrel. Extraction is very good. Cases fly out at 3 or 4 o'clock. There are no failures to feed with RRA or BROWNELLS 32 round stick mags. The nitride finish is hardly touched. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it is holding up. I use a Q buffer or Spikes heavy buffer and leave the bolt weight in. This set up really minimizes muzzle flip.
very nice
Purchased on sale. Very nice finish, and extremely smooth. This unit mated perfectly with a FM 16" barrel. Extractor very possitive and spot on. Fit to receiver was nice. The removable weight is a plus. Combined with the heavy FM buffer this weight won't be used except when heavy +p+ loads are used and I'm not for sure that will be absolutely nessacary. Love the captured firing pin. One thing though, the weight did interfere with closing upper and lower with mill spec hammer in fired position. But it did not interfere with operating in closed unit. Only thing that could be improved on would be getting rid of staked key for an integrall key but I doubt very much if this will ever present a problem.
Not happening
The picture and Q&A both show/say this bolt is ramped so it can be used with a 'regular' AR/M16/M4 ect style trigger assembly. The part received does have a very minor ramp but nothing even close to the ramped bolt that CMMG uses... Installed into the firearm it was intended for and sure enough it is hitting/hanging up on the hammer on the forward stroke. Borrowed the bolt from my other AR-9mm (CMMG MK9-LE) and installed into the gun in question, as expected it works fine. Both firearms have the same trigger assembly, same lower ect.. This Brownells bolt looks to be made for use ONLY with a 'dedicated' style 9mm hammer. Up until now I have had nothing but praise for this company, I hope a short phone call tomorrow will get this resolved.
Buyer beware. Will NOT open/trigger a standard style ejection port cover
Buyer beware. Whoever was sitting at the CAD desk designing this bolt, designed the ejection port cover bevel too deep. It will not open the ejection port cover of a standard AR-15 style design. I was excited to get this and as soon as I inserted it and cycled it, I noticed this problem. So I had to go back to my old Colt 9mm bolt.
