When the added velocity of a longer barrel needs to be preserved, but the desire for additional weight reduction remains, barrel fluting serves as an excellent solution to help shave away unwanted bulk. Criterion fluted AR-15 barrels are designed to ensure maximum concentricity and consistent dimensions throughout the full length of the bore. Eight flutes are machined around the circumference of the barrel to the front and rear of the gas port. Each flute is polished to smooth jagged edges while retaining a sharp appearance. Each 416R stainless steel barrel comes complete with an M4 barrel extension and a .223 Wylde chamber designed to accept both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO cartridges.

Excellent match barrel

I do a lot of target shooting. This barrel is very accurate, it seems to prefer the 70-80 gr. HPBT bullets. Shoots consistent .5 MOA with factory match ammo. Reloads will reduce the groups still more. I shoot it without a flash hider or muzzle brake. Finish is superb, fluted barrel looks good and provides a slightly lighter weight. When cleaning the hand lapped bore can be felt as the patch smoothy passes through.

Solid 18" Barrel

Quick install and off to the range. Tried a couple of different types of ammo, sticking to heavier loads in the 69gr-77gr range since this has a slightly faster 1x8" twist. Reasonable accuracy with value 75 grain ammo. Shooting several groups with Federal GMM turned in consistent 5-shot groups in the 0.5"-0.75" range at 100 meters. Good value, great barrel.

20 inch criterion

I bought an ar15 in November started reloading in February I never had good accuracy with the gun until I put this barrel on now everything that I put through it shoots between 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch 5 shot groups @ 100 yards I've never given a review before but feel compelled to give Criterion a big thumbs up. Good job and thanks

very high quality

I bought this barrel for my second AR build. The fit and finish was of the highest quality that I have seen. All the threads and surfaces where very smooth with no burs of any kind. Everything went together without any issues at all.

Very nice looking barrel

At this time I have not used it, so 5 stars is not an option, but I expect to be able to give 5 later. The product looks very nice and looks to be very high quality. I am not new but not an expert either. It is nice Brownells had it in stock because the manufacturer did not.
