300 BLACKOUT GUNNER PROFILE RIFLE BARRELS FOR AR-15

300 BLACKOUT GUNNER PROFILE RIFLE BARRELS FOR AR-15 Reviews & Ratings

Faxon’s .300 AAC Blackout Gunner Barrels are machined from hardened 4150 Chrome moly in a unique contour that balances rigidity - for excellent accuracy - with light weight for maneuverability. From the muzzle back to the gas block .300 AAC Blackout Gunner Barrels match Faxon’s skinny "Pencil" profile to keep weight down and preserve ease of handling. There’s more metal from the gas block back to the barrel extension to provide rigidity and combat distortion due to heat buildup during long shooting sessions.

Faxon 7.5" 300BO Gunner Barrel
I picked this up to replace a 10" BO barrel that I felt was a little too long for the backpack SBR that I wanted for a truck gun. Excellent fit and finish. With a 7 inch hand guard it is the perfect length for my Dead Air Sandman silencer. Topped off with the Law Tactical Folder it fits perfectly in my 5.11 backpack with suppressor removed. Shooting 190 SubX reloads it is supper quiet and more than accurate enough to work in that CQB to 100 yard range I was after. Faxxon makes great barrels at a very reasonable price. I will do business with them again...and again.A+

Amazing barrel!
I am a big fan of the 300 AAC cartridge and have carried one for deer season for 4 out 6 seasons. Im a backpack hunter so weight matters a lot. My current build needed to be replaced due to an operator error incident. I was sad to part ways with my first upper build, it was a very accurate rifle with MOA accuracy at 200 yards. My first time out sighting in the new build, shots 9 and 10 at 100 yards were touching. Now I have an AR build that weighs under 6 lbs with optic, thats some weight off my shoulders. Being the last person I know who breaks in barrels, first shot cleaning took 3 patches. That nitride coating works! Time will tell how the coating holds up. But my sense is that the barrel bore has been properly lapped and chambered, given results on paper so far. The barrels gas porting cycles both supers and subs perfectly without a buffer weight or spring change. I use a YHM non-adjustable clamp on block and a standard bolt carrier. I have the Brownells Nickel boron lightweight carrier for hunting season use , Im confident that the lightweight carrier will cycle well, but will report back if it doesnt. If you handload subs, CFE BLK and H-4198 cycle well, now to test for accuracy. My pet load for supers from the old barrel gave the accuracy mentioned above. Hornady 110 grain VMax over 18.3 grains lil gun. Now to go find those deer...

Description misleading. NOT 5R rifling.
Faxon makes great barrels. My problem is with the description of this barrel (15A38P10NGQ) 10.5" GUNNER, 300BLK. Description states 5R rifling. Come to find out, the Faxon Match Series barrels have the 5R rifling not this model of barrel. Brownells made a mistake in the description and I bought it thinking it was a 5R barrel. It is still a great barrel, just not 5R rifled like the description stated. I will be returning this barrel for a true 5R Faxon Match Series barrel.

Hunting Pistol
Used this in an AR pistol build, loving the results! Nickel size groups at 50yards, with merely a Romeo5 red dot. Can easily reach 100yard kill zone with Hornady 135grain supersonic. No issues with ejection with all 3 pistol, H1, and H2 buffers(keeping H2 buffer in for best ejection pattern). Never had any headspace issues with either Faxon barrel builds yet. Simply can't go wrong buying a Faxon barrel!

Why pay more?
Built a new upper around this barrel. Using an unmagnified EOTech, I was ringing and 8" plate @100yds with no issues. I shot 125gr hand loads and 220gr Remington Subs.

Subs no can
A proper sized 300BLK gas port is NOT supposed to run subsonic ammo without a suppressor. If this guy drilled the gas port diameter to run subs without a can, he will be seriously over gassed when running supersonic ammo with a can! He didn't specify, if he was trying to run subs without a can. But i seriously doubt Faxon would sell a 300BLK barrel that didn't cycle subs with a can.

Good looking
Very good looking barrel, but is not dimpled for gas block, which would have been nice.

Amazing Accuracy!
To start this wouldve been a 5 star, but I think the barrel is a little short of the 7.5 length which caused the base of my muzzle device to sit just inside a 7 handguard. This meant I had to get a handguard with a bigger inside diameter so my suppressor would drop inside and lock on. Just keep in mind if using a suppressor. Accuracy wise, this barrel really impressed with most ammo I fed it. I couldnt believe such a stubby little barrel would throw five consecutive rounds of 150 grain Hornady SP in a 3 circle at 100 yards, but it did! That was with a 2MOA red dot optic. I imagine if you put more pinpoint glass on it you could possibly tighten it up more. Additionally Ive had zero cycling issues as well. This barrel even cycled heavier subsonics without a suppressor. I highly recommend it for a CQB hammer thats fully capable of long shots in a pinch.

Feed Ramps Questionable
I questioned the feed ramps because they are clearly the same as on a .223/5.56 barrel. So I contacted Faxon and they confirmed that the feed ramps were for .223/5.56 barrels. They said that they tested them with .30 cal projectiles and there wasn't a problem. They also said they saved money in production by not having to make larger feed ramps, so they didn't have to charge more for the barrel. I'm doing my own testing in a few days and will see if it is being returned or not. Most concerned about my subsonic loads feeding.
