AR-15 AMBIDEXTROUS SAFETY KIT

AR-15 AMBIDEXTROUS SAFETY KIT Reviews & Ratings

Knight's semi-auto safety lever gives true ambidextrous selector operation to your AR. Comes with three different right-hand levers, so you can choose the exact size/position to suit your personal shooting preferences. Choose a full-size right-side lever that mirrors the left-side lever, a low-profile, semi-scalloped lever that is minimally obtrusive, or an indicator arrow that gives instant visual verification of the rifle's firing mode. Easy to install, too: with the selector fully installed in the gun, you simply remove a recessed setscrew to swap the right-hand lever. All-steel construction to handle hard use, with smooth, positive operation.

SPECS: Fits - Standard AR-15 or SR25/LR-308 lower receivers.

KAC promptly responded to my email and is sending a replacement lever to replace the discolored one. Im very happy with their support and with having 2 other sets of their ambi safeties on LE6920s, I know what a quality product this is and why the full auto version of this product is on the militarys NSN list.

Best Ambi Safety
I'm a Firearms Instructor and I've tried just about every safety on the market and this KAC safety is my favorite. I prefer the low profile selector because It is completely out of the way when your firing, however a quick swipe rearward with the trigger finger and the safety is on. This safety is super smooth and extremely fast to operate. No break in period needed. Don't need to polish it, grease it, cut springs or anything. It is just super smooth from the start. A lot of people over look safeties on the AR15 and don't see the need for an ambi safety and especially don't want to spend the money on it. But I assure you it's very important to have and I highly suggest running ambi safeties on all AR15s. If you don't understand why then go get some training.

My new Favorite
It has a slightly grayer finish then shown. This finish i think may aid in the very positive and smooth operation. Some selector switches require a short break in period. I even know of some who remove coils from the detent spring. Let me tell you, none of this is required on this one. It is ready to go right out of the packaging without any break in or mods. I still own a few different selectors from Battle Arms, Noveske and assorted Mil Spec type. But the Knights by far has been my favorite. Five Stars!!!

Best safety I've used
Very smooth operation, the different end pieces on the right side are great to have and the scalloped ambi safety is the best I've used. Costly, but you get what you pay for.

My 3rd set since 2012, but...
This is my third set of the KAC ambi safety, but this set had 2 minor issues. There was so much pre dipped blue locktite it was a total pain to get the set screw in all the way. Go a little, back out, wipe excess loctite, go a little further. Truly thought I was stripping the threads, but all was fine. The second was the aesthetics of the larger thumb safety. The finish isnt applied evenly and it looks discolored. Im still keeping the set, as Im addicted to using my index finger to place the safety back on safe, but the overall quality was less than the two sets I purchased 7 years ago.

Quality Steel Safety Lever
Installed this safety on my CMP "Alternative Rifle" for EIC Competitions. Perfect drop-in fit in my Anderson lower with a Geissele High Speed NM trigger. As others have stated, the color is more of a phosphate grey than dark black. The finish has a texture that promotes good contact. It is not slick. The 4 out of 5 stars is because the color is a stark contrast to the lower. It is not shiny or reflective. I plan on buying this again.

Not my favorite selector
I really wanted to like this selector. Over a couple years I'v owned three of them. They all suffered the same problem, there is a mushiness to them. I want a safety to have a definite tactile feel whether it's on safe or not, a click if you will. This one never had my confidence of being engaged. I tried different lowers, different detents & springs, nothing helped. The POF ambi safety proved to be an outstanding one. I like KAC products, just not this one.

Required fitting. All good after...
Bought this safety last summer after trying the Troy ambi-safety (an complete structural failure due to what I consider a design flaw; see my review on the Troy product here on Brownells). The Knights Armanent safety works well now and I'm very happy with my purchase at this time. I removed two stars because my happiness was bought not from Knights product, but due to me own modifications. As shipped, safety sat slightly off center in my lower's safety channel left to right which caused a pretty sizable gap on the ejection port side and caused the inside of the primary safety lever to catch on my pistol grip on the bolt release side when switched on/off. 15 patient minutes with a dremel sanding pad on the inside of the safety lever and another 5 minutes with a dremel polishing wheel eliminated the problem without affecting function. Now that it isn't hanging up on my grip (Magpul MOE K+), I'm very satisfied with this safety. I prefer the half-scalloped lever for my off-hand side. Removed two stars for paying over $50 and still being required to fit the product to my lower. I would expect that from a low quality brand, but not from KAC. For those wondering, I did verify with two other mil-spec (single-side) safety levers that the Knights product was what was out of spec, not my lower receiver.

Color Off, Not as it appears in listing
Functions as it should. I like the ambi design that allows for symmetry on the rifle, but the color is way off. Not black like it appears in the description. Appears to be unfinished metal that will rust quick and easy, doesn't appear to have any type of coating on it whatsoever. See attached picture.

Great safety but definitely grey
Very easy to install. The low-profile switch is awesome and doesn't get in the way when you're shooting right handed. However, it still has enough material to manipulate left handed. The only negative thing is that it's grey and doesn't match a black finish. It really sticks out especially in sunlight. If you want a great ambi-safety that's grey it's perfect. If you are expecting black get something else. Great functionality I just wasn't expecting grey.
