Quality A4 stock!
You will most likely need to place a backorder for this item, but don't worry it will show up. This is a quality Colt A4 stock. Tight fit on my BCM A2 lower. You will need to purchase the butt cap spacer and screw separately, not a big deal for me, but some people weren't happy about it. I'm just glad that I can outfit my BCM A4 Mod 1 with a Colt components for the missing items like the stock, handguard, and detachable carry handle rear sight. Thank you, Brownells for having these parts to order!
Definitely grey not black
Fit fine on Noreen lower receiver. Definitely grey color not black

Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Great stock, but not without faults.
I bought a few of these Colt A2/A4 stocks because I thought they might be better than the others I was considering, like the ones from Windham Weaponry, Fulton Armory, White Oak Armament and Rock River Arms... Turns out that it's pretty much the same stock with a couple of minor differences in the trap door and the screw that retains the butt plate and sling swivel. The trap door on these Colt stocks a few years ago had a steel latch plunger which has since been changed over to a polymer plunger, so the pictures here showing the steel latch are no longer 100% accurate, but otherwise the rest of the stock is unchanged. The main differences between this stock and the other brands I mentioned is the design of the trap door and the latch spring is so stiff that you cannot open it without a tool to slip behind the plunger after having depressed it with a finger or a tool in the opposite hand. You will break your nails attempting to open the trap door one handed with only a finger alone... It's truly impossible, the spring is just too dang stiff. Also the sling swivel screw is of better quality than most and includes the yellow Nylok patch. Other than those differences, the stock body and butt plate are the exact same as from the other brands. Now to address an issue that I've been seeing with all A2 stocks (including this one)... The A2 stock spacers are not long enough to fill the gap, they're all a little over a 16th too short. Even when the top screw is tightened down the spacers rattle and slide back and forth between the buffer tube and the butt plate. I solve this by taking an appropriate sized O-ring and sandwiching it between the back of the buffer tube and the spacer. Keep in mind that you don't just want to fill the gap, you actually want the O-ring to have to compress about a 16th when tightening down the screw... This keeps everything nice and tight as it should be. Also, I've changed out my trap doors on these for the ones used by most of the commercial brands because I prefer to be able to open the trap doors by hand easily enough, which is impossible with the Colt trap doors. I just wish they made the aluminum trap doors again!
Excellent Stock That Looks/Works Great
Highest quality of all the A2 stocks I've used so far. The storage compartment is solid and easy to open. Only drawbacks are that it does not include the A2 Spacer or Upper Stock Screw so you'll need to add those to your order as well.
Great Stock.
I like full stocks on AR Style rifles, and this stock is great. You will need to order the butt-stock spacer and the top screw in order to attach this to an A2 receiver extension (buffer tube). Those parts will cost less than 10 bucks. First, the black color of the stock is the same as the DPMS and Windham Stock. In fact, the only difference that I can see is door. If you look at the attached photos, the Colt stock is on the far right, the DPMS is in the middle, and the Windham Weaponry is on the left. All three (3) have a plastic door, but the Colt appears to have a metal door release button. The internal foam looks the same. Overall, they are identical. I mean identical! The Windham door has the cheapest "feel" but they all work well. I've read about "fuzz" on A2 stocks, and I've read about people rubbing oil on the stock to make it blacker. I didn't do any of that. I suspect that all three (3) of these stocks came from the same source. The butt plates, screws, etc. all interchange. If you assemble an A2 stock, and hear a rattle when you shake the rifle, remove the top stock screw, and scrub off the thread locker. Use the screw to chase the threads directly into the buffer tube. Then, re-install the stock. At the end of the day, this "Colt Product" is solid. Best of luck.
Not an A4 clone stock..
I’ve bought 4 “A4” sticks now online from different manufacturers and none of them are true A4 stocks. They all have this dumb contour on both sides and they’re all black. Every M16A4 I have ever seen in my time in the military is GRAY and has no contours on the sides. Yet again I’ve been duped. This one is built a little better than the others though. If you’re looking for a true CLONE M16A4 buttstock this IS NOT it.
Assembly is incomplete
This assembly does not come with all of the parts pictured in the schematic. It is missing the buttcap spacer.
No way to verify if authentic Colt product
Don’t buy. No way to tell if you paying 1.5x price for authentic Colt stock and not just receiving brownells generic A4 stock. In title or description the word ‘Colt’ is used. Nothing on product or packaging has word Colt or any colt part #. Very misleading marketing practice. I feel deceived and that I should return.
bad
This has no similarity to the real thing. Light weight plastic all over including a plastic door on the butt. It's not even black - silver gray. I am returning this!!!
Multitude of Issues with this product
This was bought for an M16A4 clone as the name of the product would suggest. The biggest issue is that this is a misleading product. It claims to be black when it is 100% gray just like all the other A4 stocks on the market. If you are buying this because you want a black stock, DO NOT. This is a gray stock. I ordered this in August and it was backordered, no big deal, eventually it got to me now in November, I waited 3 months for an incorrectly colored stock. Other than that the product feels firm and the install is easy given that you know what you are doing. In addition to that the finish was rubbing off of it onto my hands and left a weird dust, strange but not really a deal breaker. I do not recommend this at all because the product is misleading and insanely over priced. Also it alleges that it is made by COLT and if you are an owner who loves their roll marks, there is no denotation that it is COLT. It could very well be a trash UTG stock and you would never know. Do not buy! Well, buy it if you dont care about the color and getting overcharged for a basic stock.
