AR-15 A1 EJECTION PORT COVER ASSEMBLY

AR-15 A1 EJECTION PORT COVER ASSEMBLY Reviews & Ratings

AR-15 A1 EJECTION PORT COVER ASSEMBLY

Our Brownells A1 Ejection Port Cover is an accurately detailed replica of the cover used on M16A1 and earlier rifles - basically the Vietnam Era guns. Unlike the standard A2 cover still in use today, the A1 has a smaller, rectangular finger pad with crisp 90 degree edges. On the inner side, an early-style hexagonal housing retains the catch detent and spring, rather than the simpler, easier to manufacture cylindrical housing of the A2 cover. Aside from these physical details, the Brownells A1 Ejection Port Cover operates and installs just like the covers on modern-day rifles. It's made of stamped steel (not plastic - of course!), with a classic matte dark gray Parkerized finish that's a good match to our Retro Rifle receivers.

  • Correct style for M16A1 & earlier rifles that should have a port cover
  • Steel with durable Parkerized finish
  • Correct-spec smaller, rectangular finger pad
  • NOTE: Pin, C-clips & spring NOT included

If you've gone to the effort of building up a nice early AR-15 / M16 Retro Rifle from Brownells parts, why cut corners on the details? The A1 Ejection Port Cover provides that finishing touch of historical accuracy.

Perfecr for a retro build!
I'm current building an M16A1 rifle and want to keep it as close to authentic as possible. The only piece i needed to complete the upper was an ejection port cover. Of all the online businesses, Brownells was the only one that had them in stock. The reproduction is meticulous from form to function. Looks perfect on the retro build! My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, the ejection was not offered as a kit. Each part needed to be purchased separately. It still gets a five star rating.

Retro Build
I am doing a retro USAF 604 build, needed a small pad ejection port cover. I see a lot of mention of colors not matching. Well in my 23 years in the Air Force, I don't remember any of the 604s having much if any matching colors on the parts. Just makes it look more authentic in my opinion. Installation was straight forward and easy enough, that's saying a lot as this is my first ever build. Pictures show it installed, ignore the A2 buttstock and pistol grip, just a mock up and test fitting.

Perfect retro reproduction part
Hard to tell apart from my original Colt port doors. Fit perfectly and the price was affordable.

Excellent Quality
This reproduction A1 ejection port cover is expensive without the hardware, but it is very high quality. The finish is a dark black parkerization so it wont match up to your gray build without a little bit of work. I ordered four of these, and each one had a bit of a bend to it. I straightened each one out and they installed easily. Great product, more of a buy once cry once deal to make your vintage rifle complete!

Needed for my A1 clone
Needed it to complete my M16a1 clone. Very solid, seems well made. Wish it came with the spring, rod and c clamp.

It works well
These ejection port covers are pretty well made and are a good representation of the early style covers. Ive purchased several of these over the years. Theyre well made but the finish on them can easily be scratched. Putting on an other finish, like DuraCoat would solve the finish problem. These early style covers are not easily purchased so Ive bought all of them from Brownells. Im glad that Brownells sells them.

Worked well
This part is expensive but most unique gun parts are. This part worked fine. Ive purchased several of these over the years. All of them had slight finish wear for some reason. Theyre new but dont look new because the finish is rubbed off the raised areas. Finishing it to match the upper/lower receivers is the best thing to do.
