well made but..
Well made adapter.the mag release looks like it should afford more bite into the magazine's retention slot..but I also could be seeing things. It appears to work well.the 2 screws on the bottom may be overkill as the mag release holds it vertically and the single gib retention takes out all the play. Will not work on my billet lower because trigger guard is too thick..so I returned it.

Paired with a Stern upper and using P320 mags. Have had zero malfunctions since day it came out of the box. Love the last round hold open. Still getting used to the mag release position but if you accidently hit the ar mag realse it doesn't come out of position, maybe something they have updated based on past reviews I've seen.
Great 9mm adapter!
Decided to go the Stern route to convert my mil-spec AR lower to 9mm, and I'm glad I did. I mated the converted lower with an FM 9mm upper & bolt, and a PWS extended 9mm buffer. No bolt modifications were needed. However, I did attach the Stern block with the upper and lower already together to insure the block would sit low enough- worked like a charm. I've fired about 150 rounds through the carbine and Stern block with perfect function. If you inadvertently hit the regular mag release, don't worry; the block is held in place using the larger adjustment screw, so it's not going anywhere. Get one, you'll be glad you did.

Been looking for a reliable 9mm conversion for almost a year and after tons of researches (forum and YT), I decided to bite the bullet and purchase Stern Defense. I have to say this thing is amazing, I installed this to my Anderson lower and it fits perfectly no play and nothing. To be on the safe side, I purchased Stern Defense Upper (from their website) paired with their H3 Buffer. Went to the range today and shot 1000rounds and ZERO hiccup! I ran all kinds of ammo (freedommunitions 115/147gn, Fiocchi 115gn, and Sellier&Bellot 115gn) All and all, I'm very satisfied with the product!
Use those Glock mags for PCC.
Works great with my FM upper after the bolt mod. Bolt hold open does not work with the Magpul mags. Works perfectly with glock and ETS
Great product so far.
Product is well machined and well thought out. The bolt hold open design works great as opposed to some others. Magazine release feels natural for both strong and weak side support. The only mod required was removal of the integral feed ramp because the upper is a Taccom ULW upper that already has a barrel ramp. Removing the ramp was easily accomplished with an allen wrench. The customer service rep at Stern was very helpful with this. Specs are as follows: Taccom ULW complete upper with ramp and bolt mod, Taccom adjustable buffer system, Spikes mil spec multi cal lower, Geissele of some kind

** Do anything in this review at your own risk ** I was looking at the pros and cons for this device, and I was thinking that this device is not aesthetically pleasing because it sticks out of the mag well a bit, it is not overly easy to install as it took me 3x to get the insert adjusted to what I think is right, it cost me $180 with my edge membership so I wouldn't say it is particularly cheap but it does serve a purpose, so far it has been safe, it has been tough so far, and it ONLY works with ARs with a GLOCK-CUT bolt--it will NOT work without a GLOCK-CUT bolt. It takes a little bit of fenagling to get the mag release catch on the AR and this insert aligned properly. Don't forget to loosen ALL of the set screws on this insert BEFORE you try to install it in your AR. The screws have some semi-locking compound on them or they are pretty tight, but don't freak out when you are working on the insert. If you take it slow and easy, you should be fine. If you install the insert up too high or too low, the INSERT mag release may bind on you. It is located on the bottom corner of the insert, and you will need to get used to it compared to a normal AR mag release. In my experience, my AR mag release lever on the left side of the AR needed to be aligned about dead center. If you buy one of these, you'll know what I'm talking about. Those little nylon-tipped set screws take some finesse to get them right. ALSO, Glock factory mags WILL work in this insert, BUT you need to check the side of your Glock factory mag for the little triangle in the mag catch slot. If you HAVE the triangle, my advice is DON'T use that mag with this insert. Why? Because the little triangle causes the Stern Defense INSERT mag catch to not fully seat in the mag slot, and you risk having your full or partially-full mag dropping out of your AR while in use. I bought (20) 17rd PMAGS and I carry a Glock17 as my primary sidearm to go along with my AR 9mm, so I can use my PMAGs in either one. I am not paid by Magpul in any way for this review, but I did decide not to use any factory mags that have the triangle, and currently I am using PMAGs exclusively. Good luck.

Here in Minnesota the temp got to -50 below making it shift inside my magwell and kept dropping mags. It was also really hard to use in conjunction with a Magpul B.A.D. lever. It was hard to not hit the mag (normal A.R. 15 and troy) releases accidentally. I was hoping to use this item as my 9mm A.R. workaround but ended up buying a dedicated lower from Foxtrot Mike. If someone designs a model that can be adjusted without any tools I might reconsider.
