Last Production Run! When this current batch is out of stock, these will no longer be available.

Whether you’re at the range or humpin’ the boonies, having plenty of ammo to feed your AR-15 "Retro" rifle is vital. With a few extra loaded Brownells 25-round Retro AR-15 magazines on hand, you won’t have to "di-di mau" back for more. Externally, this straight-bodied steel mag is a carefully reproduced replica of the magazines Armalite assembled for their original AR-15 prototype rifles - ideal for your very early Retro Repro build. More good news: our 25-round Retro AR-15 mags are 100% up-to-date with reliable modern innards, and they will fit and function dependably in ANY modern AR-15 with a mil-spec lower, including our Retro lowers. We’re pointing this out because, if you know your AR-15 / M16 history well, you know that the prototype rifles’ mag won’t fit a modern gun. Now you can give your rifle that period-correct appearance so many AR-15 history fans/shooters crave, with a reasonably priced "shooter" mag!

  • Fits modern "mil-spec" AR-15 lower receiver, including Brownells Retro receivers
  • Stamped steel body & floorplate with correct markings/indentations
  • Durable matte black Parkerized finish
  • Chrome silicon spring maintains proper tension for consistent feeding
  • Glass-fiber reinforced composite follower further aids feeding

Our 25-round Retro AR-15 magazines are the perfect complement to your Retro AR-15 rifle - whether you bought it whole or built it from parts. It’s also ideal for shooters who prefer the reliability of the straight-body magazines the AR-15 was originally designed to use but want 5 more rounds than you get from the standard 20-round mags. As a bonus, that sturdy steel body will stand up to all the abuse you can give it, and be ready for more!

Hope someday they do a limited run of these again!
Fantastic magazine. Honestly it is the coolest magazine in my collection. I own 8 of these bad boys and have no feed issues or anything. Would’ve loved to purchase more of these lol like 8 more haha. Hope someday they do a re run and release a batch of these for a limited time so other people and I can score some because this will draw some eyes in the range or when you show it to your friend and they’re like “where do you find these”.

Exactly what I need
These straight steel mags are solid - in great condition. I got them to convert from 5.56x25 to .450 BMx10. All that's needed is a 'big bore' follower and a tweak to the feed lips. They work fine. Very satisfied even though they are a bit spendy.

NOT a perfect repro, but the best we’re going to get
The original 25-round aluminum magazine is so insanely rare, even pictures of it are hard to find. I’d rate this steel magazine at about 95% for its overall shape. It fits, functions, and looks super cool.

Update
Finally made it to the range today. Ran mags with BH 77gr OTM's. Not one misfeed and they dropped out of a BCM smooth. If they're not falling out try cleaning your gun

Awesome but....
Straight 20's and 25's are a total vibe! .. Mag runs great out of 3 rigs. Overpriced for what it is but other than that it's a solid mag.

25 round magazine
Although I haven't gotten out to shoot yet this year, this magazine looks awesome in my early 601 retro build. It fits great and drops free. It has a heavy, solid construction which leads me to believe this will last a very long time. I do plan on replacing the black plastic follower with a Vietnam era metal one though.
