Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Easy build and works fine.
Went together easily, Function checked with 40 rounds and works fine so far. Comes with every part, except the gas tube and roll pin.
Be aware that the handguard ring is gray in color, similar to a GI mag. Some picky people may not like that.
16" Retro Barrel
Barrel looks great and Shoots even better. It's not over Gassed Ejects .223 Brass at the 3.30 Area and the 1/7 twist I can use modern ammo

Barrel
I am building my first ar as a retro carbine and this barrel is a good choice if you are trying to build a retro rifle.
Good Mil-Spec barrel
This barrel is a solid alternative to the old military Colt's style barrels that are getting ever increasingly harder to find. This barrel can bring new life to that old worn out military barrel, or be a great one for that retro build. Highly recommended.
14 installed easy as pie
I recently installed 14 of these assemblies on old bushmaster upper receivers to bring old worn out rifles back into service, they went on without a hitch and during zero and test firing no malfunctions. The chrome lined barrels should last well until after I retire. These are for police patrol rifles carried daily by our officers.
Canted front sight base
I installed this barrel in a Nodak Spud slick side (604) carry handle upper receiver. This is a used upper, and is known to be okay. The first issue I discovered was the hand guard cap prevented the gas tube from going in. I removed the barrel, and it was obvious that the hand guard cap was crooked. I had to remove the front sight base, realign the hand guard cap, install the gas tube (to keep the cap aligned) reinstall the front sight base, remove the gas tube, and then reinstall the barrel in the normal fashion. It was obvious to the naked eye that the FSB was canted to the right. I counted the available windage of the rear sight at 30 clicks (right & left). It took 8 clicks to the right to get zeroed at 25 yards. The canted FSB makes the whole rifle look wonky.
