A rock-solid platform for your premium optics. With the increasing popularity of the AK based rifles in three gun competitions, the need for a handy, light, completely reliable high speed sighting system has resulted in the UltiMAK M1-B optic mount. Its Picatinny style rail is positioned well below the iron sight axis, making this the lowest optic mount available for the AK. With a tubular sight mounted low, you will be able to use your optic without a comb riser and still use your regular hold. The system allows for co witnessing (the ability to use your iron sights right through a 1x sight as a back-up sighting system) when used with a tubular reflex sight. This heavy duty mount replaces the original steel gas tube and upper handguard, so it adds less than one ounce to the weight of the rifle, making it by far the lightest optic mount installation in the world. The forward positioning of the optic gives you faster, easier and more natural targeting while maintaining your full field of view. Multiple target or moving target engagements, with both eyes open, become second nature.

The UltiMAK AK optic mount rarely if ever needs to be removed to clean the rifle, so you need not worry about loss of zero. Since the mount is clamped to the barrel and not jammed in between the gas block and the sight block like the original gas tube, several UltiMAK users have reported an improvement in their AKs' inherent accuracy. Picatinny/Weaver style rail. Replaces the gas tube. Clamps directly to barrel for maximum stability, accuracy, and optimum bore alignment. The UltiMAK Optics Mount has been engineered for compatibility with a wide range of AK rifle variations. If you have a 7.62 x 39 caliber AK with standard weight barrel and a standard length, removable gas tube (roughly seven inches, or 17.7 centimeters overall gas tube length) the Mount should fit nicely. We have yet to find a rifle of the above description that our mount does not fit, providing that the rifle is assembled reasonably straight. Some AKs have radically misaligned gas blocks as compared to the rear sight block. In rare cases, this can cause problems installing the UltiMAK Mount. Solid, one-piece 6061-T6 hard anodized aluminum body. Comes with 4140 steel clamps, screws, allen wrench, and instructions. No Gunsmithing.

Excellent solution for optics mounting

This is a great optics mount. Easy to install and stays put. I've had one on my wasr 10/63 for over 10 years and 20k rd without issue. I used some electrical tape to keep the clips in place around the barrel.

Works great looks good

The gas tube was simple to install, works with zhukov handguards

Best for fastening of the Red dot on AK

Excellent subject for installation on AK. It is the best way for installation of Red dot on it. Is established simply, doesn't demand metalwork skills. Costs very strongly and doesn't get off. I recommend.

One of the best solutions out there

Have had and/or researched all the various AK optics mounting solutions - for my needs, it doesn't get better than this. Obviously if you want to mount a magnified optic, this won't work for you unless you have a scout-optic with LONG eye relief, but for red dots this is the best. Rock solid, no added weight, and for cleaning just use a 12ga or 20ga shotgun brush and you never have to remove the mount.

Got to have one!

Now down side. Love these, all AKs should have one.

I have two of these

I have two of these mounts. They are both mounted on Bulgarian AK type rifles. They are topped off with Aimpoint sights. I can cowitness my iron sights in the lower portion of the optic. Fit and finish are excellent.

Solid

4 stars only because of the price. Only had one problem installing... the hardware that straps around the barrel were a very tight fit between the hand guard on my Palmetto State PSAK-47. Made it a bit difficult to install, but no modifications were needed. Other than that, it's a solid mount. Looks great. Lightweight quality aluminum. Black matches color of my barrel well. Slight gap (length wise) is intentional to allow for slight length change when it heats up. I love this rail position because with the vortex venom red dot optic I have, I can see the iron sight through it. The red dot makes for a much faster target acquisition with both eyes open.

Works Good, But Gets Really Hot

Gives a nice low mount, just be aware that after a few magazines, it will get hot enough to burn your fingertips if you're not careful, and not wearing gloves. I wonder if cheaper optics will be able to take that kind of heat for long. It clamps onto the barrel, which means it's not easily removable for cleaning, which may be a problem if you shoot corrosive ammo, and a lot of the surplus ammo is at least mildly corrosive. Way better than most of the dust cover scope mounts. Not as tall as many side-rail mounts. It's a good, solid, low mount for AK type rifles, just be aware that there are some trade-offs.

Great for optic only

For mounting a red dot sight (Aimpoints Micro is the best) on an AK this is a solid system. If thats all you intend to put on your AK. For a Quad Rail system Chaos has good ones out there
