The Magpul Zhukov Hand Guard is a fully-featured AK forearm for the modern AK. The Zhukov Hand Guard casts aside traditional AK forearm shortcomings and offers an extended option for modern shooting techniques, an aluminum chassis for strength and heat dispersion, a comfortable injection molded exterior for superior ergonomics, and M-LOK® slots for optimized accessory attachment.

Compatible with the Ultimak gas tube rail for optics mounting, the Zhukov Hand Guard redefines functionality for the modern AK platform. Installation requires permanent removal of the hand guard retainer.

*NOTE: The Zhukov Hand Guard requires the permanent removal of the factory hand guard retaining cap and forward sling mount if so equipped. Please ensure your barrel diameter under the hand guard falls between 16.75-18.25 millimeters before cutting your retaining cap!

Due to the wide range of tolerances of your typical AK, minor additional fitting may be required. Not compatible with Yugo pattern rifles or RPK style receivers.

Saiga 223

Works on my Saiga 223 conversion. It has a great, solid feel. My conversion is a "heavy barrel" import, but I can't see this not working on the other imports with standard barrel dimensions. The difference isn't that great. For a Saiga, it's hard to find something that will work and feel solid. So many of the options out there want to use the front screw that holds the original hand guard.

Great Handguard from Magpul

I love this hand guard. It was very easy to install. The heat shield does a great job of keeping your hands from getting to warm. It works well with all the M-Lok accessories. It fitted perfect with my Ultimak gas tube as well. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Worth every penny

I've been shopping for a full length system for my Bulgarian Ak74 rifle for a while. I'm a huge fan of MagPul furniture for the Ar platform so you can imagine I was happy to see they were producing furniture systems for the Ak family. I like MagPul because of their appearance, ease of use and modular utility. I pre-ordered the Zhukoov set at apparently the right time. My fore-end was delivered today and I wasted no time in installing it. The installation took less than 30 minutes (a lot of that was looking for the right hex head). Warning: you need to be proficient with cutting tools. Installation of the Zhukov fore-end requires cutting off the front hand-guard retaining plate. If you aren't, either avoid the Zhukov or have a professional do it. I've been an armorer / gunsmith for over a decade. Having said that, cutting off the retaining clip was the hardest part of the install. The installation past that was very easy. Once properly installed the hand-guard fits solidly. The included screws come with a thread locking compound pre-applied. The top cover for the gas-tube is optional but does complete the aesthetic. I'm planning on purchasing the Ultimak railed gas tube. This fore-end appears to be designed with this system in mind. It will require removal of the hand-guard assembly and then re-alignment but that should take less than 10 minutes.
