Nice Replacement
I replaced my grips on my M9A3 with aluminum and the oversized catch wouldn't depress. I really like the grips so I got this extended one. It fits. I like the extended smaller button on this one rather than the oversized. It didn't need any fitting. I scuffed it up a little when putting it in and I thought it had went rather smoothly. Maybe the finish isn't too durable. It worked well functionally. The texture is really aggressive, I guess you could call it? You might see some skin cells left in there after using it.
works great
I have installed this mag release on a 23 year old INOX manufactured in Italy and a new M9 compact. They required no fitting and dropped in. Before I did the install I carefully watched the Brownells video on YouTube, which was a big help.
Better than factory mag release.
I have bought two of these over the past year. They both dropped in on a 92G and 92A1. Great function, but require a little break in. Mag release is positive and quick without fear of inadvertent release. Lock up is positive as well.
Yes
It dropped right in on my 92SF with no fitting required, just a little oil. Nice finish blends right in with the frame.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Works as advertised
I did my research and read all the reviews I could find knowing what I am getting into, especially the reviews found on Wilson Combat's website. This particular extended mag release requires some fitting and it is not a drop-in at least not for my Italian made 92FS. I am not a gunsmith and I rarely work with metals but all it needs is a little bit of filing to make it fit into the original cut out. I suspect the added thickness comes from the finishing material, once that's gone it fits just like the original one. It needs a little troubleshooting skills but in my case definitely not as bad as the others hence I give it 4 stars. The bad: Requires fitting, not a plug-and-play as claimed. WC could have provided a disclaimer on the fitment and instructions. The good: The checkering is very grippy and I hope it stays the same over use Much easier than the stock mag release to drop a mag.
Button is a bit too long.
Tight fit and needs a bit of wearing in. No biggie. Mostly disappointed that the button could be 1/16 shorter. Its too long. I dont like it. Excessively aggressive checkering snags a bit much. Compared to OEM mag release, this one is out spec. The non button side does not sit flush with frame. Too bad for these overlooked details as the product is of good quality, Not worth the time returning. Parts box it goes.
fitting required
I installed this on my m9 to offset the thickness in my new grips and to make mag changes easier in competitions. This is supposed to be a drop in but it took a lot of fitting to even install. The problem I have now is that the mags insert way to hard. It is a product that I want to like but the fitting needs to be better. If you want to have your pistol sent to them I would recommend it but they need to make the fit better.
Warning!
Warning, lots of fitting required! It took me a little over an hour with a file to get this part to fit. I had to file so it would fit the frame, then I had to file so the magazine would insert and release properly. I will also have to cold blue it now to prevent rust. This is not a drop in part and I expected better from Wilson Combat.
