308 AR TITANIUM BOLT CARRIER GROUP DLC

308 AR TITANIUM BOLT CARRIER GROUP DLC Reviews & Ratings

308 AR TITANIUM BOLT CARRIER GROUP DLC

When it comes to building a DPMS pattern .308 AR rifle every ounce helps to save weight off a rifle design that can get hefty quick. The Brownells 308 AR Titanium Bolt Carrier Group is the perfect internal component to cut down on weight in any AR-Style .308 rifle. The Brownells 308 AR Titanium Bolt Carrier Group is constructed using 6A1-4V titanium for the carrier, while the bolt itself is machined from 9310 tool steel. The component then undergoes magnetic-particle inspection to ensure consistency and quality. An added benefit of this lightweight BCG is that it reduces the punishment of recoil on the shooter, since less mass is moving inside the rifle with each shot.

  • Weight: 12 ounces
  • Designed for use in DPMS/SR25 pattern rifles
  • Features Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) finish for durability
  • Sized for .308 Win. Cartridge case head

The Brownells 308 AR Titanium Bolt Carrier Group is a fully assembled component and includes a correctly torqued and staked gas key, as well as a properly installed O-ring on the extractor.

Light Weight BCG
This titanium coated BCG arrived as described and in a nice packaged. The first thing I noticed was how light it is. I have not shot with this BCG yet but looking forward to it soon.

Super light, a work of art, & tough
I installed in an Aero enhanced upper w/ Christiansen Arms Carbon fiber .308 barrel, adjustable gas, light weight buffer & flat wire spring. Fully assembled, scoped & loaded 10rnd mag tilts in @ 8.9lbs. Shots magnificent, next to no recoil & muzzle jump minimal. Had a ruptured cartridge case head incident & never broke the extractor. This also headspaces on my 18" Faxon .308 barrel. This is a beautiful BCG- fit, form & function.

Good BCG but Incompaticle with Proof Research Barrels
Bought this in November 2022 for an AR-10 .308 build using a Spikes Tactical Jack-10 matched receiver set, Superlative Arms adjustable gas block, Proof Research carbon fiber barrel 16" barrel with matching gas tube, and H2 JP Enterprises Captured spring. After a lot of time spent diagnosing an issue presenting as too little gas, tutns out this BCG is too light to function properly with a Proof Research caebon fiber barrel. With the gas fully open the BCG does not have enough innertia to allow sufficient gas pressure build up before it moves back. As such, it will not lock the BCG back on an empty mag and it fails to feed about 1 in every 10 rounds. If using a PR barrel, I recommend against this BCG, as it is too light to function properly without drilling out the gas port. With other barrels/gas tubes with a larger gas port, this may function properly but I cannot speak to that.

Did not hold up.
I bought this for a PRS Gas Gun 6.5CM rifle. The bolt carrier seems well made and nicely finished. The bolt head spaced correctly and it's a small firing pin although I still got slight primer flow so firing pin home is a little oversized. With JP SCS H2 and red/yellow spring the rifle was very soft shooting and brad came out clean and without swipes. I returned the BCG because within 30 rounds of factory ammo for gas timing, the finish was 50% gone from the bolt and lugs were showing premature wear. I'm going back to RCA for titanium BCG's. This one was worth a shot for the cost but didn't pan out.

Extractor Broke Immediately
Extractor broke immediately. Replaced with JP extractor and is now a functional BCG.
