These 1911 shok-Buffs were purchased for my Colt 1911 Delta Elite Stainless Steel 10mm. The Shok-Buffs were installed in my 10mm as this pistol will be used for self-defense situations when Man or Beast threatens. The Shok-Buffs are extra insurance to keep me in the game.

Shock buffs
If you read the reviews you will see these often applied incorrectly. Check the compression of the spring and take a coil off if needed for a complete stroke. Most folks don't check the spring compression at full compression to see if the guide rod head meets the slide. Do this and these will help your gun immensely! Mick A27257

I have many of these on my many pistols. It possibly will help with wear and tear. I really cant prove it, but it makes sense

Great Insurance Policy
Wilson Combat are do different, I understand a lot of guys and girls are a little nervous about putting something like this in their 1911 but the funny part about it is a lot of manufacturers are actually installing these in the firearms before you even get it, it has slowly become an industry standard. so to be honest there's nothing to worry about these do work well it's just an insurance policy that helps protect your 1911 from beating itself to death.
SHOCK BUFF
I have used theses for more years than I care to think about .I have put thousands of rounds through my race gun and the frame looks good as new . I have always felt they were insurance for the frame . One word of caution they might cause malfunctions in a Commander or Officer length barrel gun . Check before using for Self Defense .
Cheaper than buying a new pistol
I wore out two 1911's in Vietnam because of cracks in the slide stop hole of the frame from the slide battering the slide stop. This buffers the slide so it won't crack your frame. Easy to install and works! It is also made from Wilson Combat in Arkansas who in my humble opinion is one of the best in the industry. What more can you ask for? If you have a M-1911 you might really want to get these. Simply slide it over the recoil spring guide, install the spring and put your pistol back together. Not rocket science for sure!

I can only speak about my pistols. I have these Shok-Buffs in all my 1911s, including a 1995 SA Mil-Spec Gov't, a 2016 Colt Combat Commander, a 2016 SA Mil-Spec Gov't, a 2017 SA Loaded Parkerized Gov't, a 2017 SA S/S Mil-Spec Gov't, and a 2018 Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail. I shoot only full power 230 gr Ball ammo (Win, Amer Eagle, S&B and Magtech) with 18.5# Recoil Springs in the Gov't models and 20# springs in the Commanders.
Great product
In several reviews people complained that the buffer limited travel of the slide and made releasing the slide into battery difficult. I installed one in my Kimber full size stainless, with a one piece full length guide rod, and experienced no such difficulty. The slide travels at least 1/16" beyond the point where the slide stop engages.This gun is about 12 years old and was a duty weapon for about 10 years (not by me) with the appropriate quantity of ammo through it for regular qualifications and practice. I am not sure if there are any changes to current production weapons would make a difference.
