Quality Ed Brown Product
Typical top quality of Ed Brown accessories. I could not fault this safety in any way . I have another S&W PC1911 on order, and will fit an Ed Brown safety as soon as it arrives simply because it suits my grip better that the S&W original. My expectations have been well and truly met!
Great Ambidextrous Safety
Installed this on my mc operator. Robust and great quality. Confirm the width of your frame to ensure this redesigned hammer pin will fit the width of your frame. Other machined ambidextrous safeties from other retailers have an adjustable width hammer pin, but if Ed brown is your preferred brand this safety is rock solid. I highly recommend this piece of kit.
All 1911 safeties require fitting.
I used this safety for a twin ambidextrous 1911 project and they work beautifully! They come with an extended hammer pin that hold the right safety against the pistol. The safety is easy to fit (just takes time and patience). The only problem I had was my own fault, I thought I would try to get the slotted pin to grip even tighter (didnt really need to) and pinched the open slot with pliers and the top slot broke off. Other than that, it works great and I couldnt be happier.
Ed Brown Machined Ambi safety
Definitely check length of the hammer pin that is used to hold the right side thumb safety lever. It will likely not be long enough for 2011 type frames such as STI, CK Arms, Phoenix Trinity or JEM hi capacity frames. Wasted my time fitting safety with another hammer pin installed then found the Ed Brown pin was to short. So I gave the part a two stars for wasting my time and reminding myself to always check when trying something new on the market.
