Thumb safety
As always when I order from Brownells, product arrives quickly and as described! A+++++

Good replacement safety
I really like the shape on this safety. I installed it on a SA mil spec I'm upgrading. This did require quite a bit of stone work to fit. I just went slow sparpie, install, throttle, remove, and stone (rinse and repeat). Took a while but now it manipulates butter smooth and most importantly keeps the hammer back when I want it to. Remember that safety is your safety's top priority

Good job
I've a TANFOGLIO Witness 1911 .45ACP (Made in Italia) and the original thumb safety was too small for competition shooting. I ordered this part from Brownell's and installed in my handgun. Few fitting required and now it works perfectly ! Thank you EGW ! Thank you Brownell's !

A truly impressive piece of metalcraft!
A beautifully crafted American-made part! I am particularly impressed with the THICKNESS OF THE SHIELD, which feature will eliminate outward forces on the spring-loaded plunger. This EGW shield is beefier than any other maker's safety shield that I know of. Further, this part is quite obviously machined from stock versus being a mere casting. Finally, the stainless steel surfaces have a pleasing "brushed" finish versus having a "powder-coated" appearance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It's a tank...in a good way
Built like a tank for heavy duty use. No wobble, positive engagement and good looks. I generally prefer the Ambi safeties, but since this is a replacement on a competition gun, I opted for durability. Only required a little trimming for the sear clearance on my STI frame.

The best .. for a gunsmith
This is the best thumb safety out there, but it is not for the novice. EGW makes some of the best 1911 parts, but most are generously oversized to allow perfect handfitting. If you are building a one-off custom, this is the safety you need. If you are just replacing one on a sloppy factory gun or don't have the skills, don't use this safety.

Outstanding part
I have worked with thumb safeties from all of the major manufacturers. This one is, without a doubt, the most robust and well executed safety available. They are very close to the Ed Brown wide safety as far as look and feel. These are fully machined from solid steel vs the Brown being cast. There are a couple of improvements that EGW has made with the design including making the shield thicker to help prevent the plunger from slipping off of the safety. Very nice touch. Extremely robust, tough, well machined, and aesthetically pleasing part.

review
Doesn't necessarily look like picture; mine was straight, rather then bent at release. Could offer a wide release, this was normal sized. It will do the job, but the fault was mine as I thought it would be a wider safety release.

Perfect for custom fabrication
Its not the most inexpensive, but the pad is so large you can shape it to match the look of your weapon. There are plenty of areas to contour to your frame and hand. This guy can really add a custom touch.
